Sounds Like
A curious siren.
Quotes from all over the world:
"[Her voice is] like honey and [red] wine, poured over glass, cut with a hot razor blade." ~Mumpsy, Florida singer/songwriter, and Chris Cucci, Florida musician
"The new stuff is amazing." ~Jenna Swisher, Orlando singer/songwriter
"very haunting to me[...it's] the whole style its to me almost ghostly echo like some [sort] of old memory playing in someones head and that song would be the [soundtrack] to it" ~Chris Stout, Orlando comedian, (on the song Like My Telephone)
"Me and My Apathy is one of the best original recordings I've heard in a long, long time. As a jazz vocalist myself, I tend to be overly critical when it comes to the sound of the female singing voice. Robin's music and Robin's voice are goldmines waiting to be discovered. My favorite song, in particular, is All That I Could Want. W.O.W.... and do you know what W.O.W. stands for? With Out Words. That's how I felt the first time that beautiful tone, melody and voice entered my ears. Me and My Apathy is a dynamite piece of work. Cheers to Robin Yukiko for her originality, creativity and for being blessed with an angel's voice." ~Laurie Thompson, Orlando professional jazz singer
"The writing on Me and My Apathy is about as honest as it gets. Robin only helps her cause with beautiful vocals and top quality sound production." ~Dan Gonzalez, Boston singer/songwriter
"I'm in love with this music
The CD arrived just the other day and I had only time to listen to it once by now, but that was enough to convince me that I have found a real treasure. Robin's voice is crystal clear and it reaches the highest pitch without any efforts. When I got to the last song this morning right before work I was just petrified in awe and I simply couldn't get up to reach my tram in time. This beautiful voice had tied me to my chair. I am so glad that I have found this wonderful artist here on CD baby." ~Charlie, www.cdbaby.com customer
PRE-ORDER Robin Yukiko's upcoming piano rock album Love War!
Robin Yukiko is an American singer-songwriter with a versitile soprano voice and piano style. Her music, often called “unique pop/rock”, can also be described as jazzy, musical theater-like, funny and haunting.
Robin notoriously began her singing "career" at the age of three and started writing songs at 14 with the aid of her father, a professional musician, who taught her music theory. A graduate from Berklee College of Music (2006), she has performed as an opera singer, a jazz singer, and a rock musician in venues from coffee shops to Carnegie Hall (1996). At 18, she released her first album “Me and My Apathy”, and has continued to develop her crafts, drawing inspiration from any source she can find.
In 2007, Robin received Honourable Mention for her stride piano pop song, "Fool Who Left", in the 2007 We Are Listening Singer/Songwriter Awards. That same year, Robin represented her country at the International Counter Match of the World Figure Skating Championships (USA vs. Japan) by singing the Star Spangled Banner alongside pop singer Ayaka Hirahara, who represented Japan. Sponsored by Nichion, Inc, the national anthem was broadcast throughout Japan on TBS.
Having lived in Japan for 2.5 years, Robin has now returned to the United States and is currently recording her second album, Love War (coming Fall 2009), which is now available for PRE-ORDER.
Robin Yukiko is a supporter of marriage equality, spaying and neutering of pets, and awareness of mental disabilities.
I've just added a new song to my profile... It's a duet with a very talented young singer Nini. I would be really happy if you could take some time to listen to it. (You can just click play under this message or visit my page) Also, please feel free to join my mailing list and I will always keep you updated with the news... ;)
Thank you so much for your support... Best Wishes, Emkay
Thanks for adding me cuz...i'm embarassed to say this is my first time hearing your music and it's freakin awesome! Heard through the grapevine you'll be home soon, can't wait to see you!
That would have been one of my recommendations, actually. That and SongCatalog--and I'm not just biased because I worked for them this summer, but I actually think their company provides good opportunities for artists. The only thing is that they're relatively new, and may not be getting "song projects" in full volume yet. I really hope something comes of it for you, though!
I don't know what you think of this, but I would highly recommend getting in touch with some music supervisors, or some of the licensing firms who deal with it. I find your music to be very visual and atmospheric, in both a literal and synesthetic sense...I'm pretty sure many people would agree.
Hi Robin, Hows your band? Hows it going with you? Long time no talk. Anyways I just wanted to tell you that along with THE HUNGER MUSIC VIDEO my band REALM 1-11 just released our first abum GUARDIAN OF SECRET DREAMS and we are selling it on i tunes. You can find them both streaming on my profile as well. Take care and let's stay in touch.http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=bINYgVtRVjU
Hello, Lady Yukiko.. Thanks for your kind message! Yes, it's been a long time.. I don't remember if I've heard some of the songs on your page or not, it's been a while since I checked. I definitely haven't heard "Chronicles of a Kid..." and I love it.. Especially that unsual chord change.. (first time it comes is on the lyric "Dining Room") and the words are so clever :).
I would love to come to Japan... so much! Sadly my funds can't stretch to that ;) but I am gonna try and go travelling in maybe a year or so.. so who knows.. maybe we could play a double-bill somewhere - how amazing fun would that be? :D
