The Ongoing History of Radio w/ Matt :)
I'm a Radio Disc-Jockey. (or RadioJockus Caffeinus Deprivus)
I'm a Canadian which is like an American but without a gun :)
Hatched and raised in the well-to-do Thames Valley of Southern Ontario,
London to be specific, I wondered for the longest time what to do with my life.
Radio: The answer was in front of me all along, starting with my first tape recorder on my 4th birthday. It started as recording "pee pee, poo poo" songs and dirty limericks about Mr.T and Pippi Longstocking before the parents took my tape recorder away, but at that point, I was hooked on performing and before long, my tapes were full of "shows" and parodies of songs and commercials alike.
Flash forward 23 years, and little has changed.
I managed to work my way up the ladder and pay my dues,
and finally land an evening show in my hometown where I survived
a format-flip and hit ..1 in evenings.
And then, they canned me.
And here I am, paying my dues again, starting over and paying off
a mountain of debt, like any other person who follows their dreams :)
I could be earning 3x the money by screwing bolts onto Crown Victorias
at the FORD plant in St.Thomas Ontario.. but something's keeping me
in this line of work. Maybe it's insanity.
UPDATE
I managed to get out of Hellvegas and into a Rock station in SW Ontario.
Life Rocks. What more can I say?
By the way, it's been cool to hear from so many bands in the Myspace Community. If I had the power or the authority to change even an hour of my commercialized, chart/advertizer-driven programming to accomodate
the vast and diverse world of independent music, I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a cupcake.
