Psychic TV is the repetitive fusion of multi-cultural, multi-sexual, and multi-conceptual thought. PTV33, as the band is now known, is the embodiment of living art, exemplifying the static between common noise and the hectic antics of our lives. To create new meanings of life through progressive absurdity, devotion, dismay, alienation, and nothingness is to amalgamate a piece of art so evolutionary that only Genesis P-Orridge, mastermind behind the noise industrial progenitor Throbbing Gristle and ethereal ensemble PTV3, would dare undertake. It has been 12 years since its last studio release, Trip Reset, odd for a group that is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for releasing 14 records in 18 months, but Genesis is back, not only with a new Throbbing Gristle album, but a shockingly impressive PTV3 return dubbed Hell is Invisible...Heaven is Her/e. It is in this new piece (and I do say ”piece” because, like his earlier subjective work, definition is too vague) Genesis displays PTV3 as not just a typical band masquerading as performance art, but rather an inductive study of sociology and psychology sculpting human acceptance, reality, and evolution.
PTV3's blend of atmospheric, psychedelic and neo-folk was more than amiably welcomed here at the Fonda, where a sizeable number of goths, punks, death rockers, and rivetheads of the old and new schools waited anxiously with no opening band to sustain their unwavering anticipation. At almost 10 p.m., the curtains went up to reveal the seven-piece band clad in white. Indeed a very quasi-religious (Temple Ov Psychick Youth) feel shaped the environment.
