NZ Musician Magazine, December/January 2009 “It’s a short and sweet journey, with only two of the seven tracks clocking up more than three minutes. Still The Roulettes manage to sound like many of the best British pop and rock’n’roll bands all at once. There’s everything here. Beatles-like melodies, Stones’ groove, Oasis without the attitude, the sounds of UK indie bands of the ‘90s. All very upbeat and still relaxed, it is full of hooks and power pop stylings well-matched by the less-is-more artwork – succinct and tasty. The lyrics are similarly catchy. This delightful angular take of a potted history of rock’n’roll is supplied by just three persons – [Aucklanders] Ben Grant on bass, guitarist Justin McLean and drummer Tye Stott (son of Larry’s Rebels’ drummer Denis Stott). The retro embellishments are not overdone making this safe to play with any era of rock and roll furnishings." - Ania Glowacz
Here is the web promo clip for the 4th series of Outrageous Fortune (a great NZ TV show) featuring "You Want It" off the EP. The song was used in Ep 2 and features on the OF soundtrack album 'Repeat Offenders'.
