The brainchild of Agent 86, Roxy was started in 2001 in collaboration with Mike Callander and featured DJ's Viva L'Amour, Dave Pham and, of course, Mike Callander & Agent 86.
The night has gone on to include invaluable, regular contribitors such as Spacey Space,Belgium (of Riot In Belgium fame!!), Askew, Marlis and a host of other friends.
Some of our special guests have included T-Rek, Boogs, Ajax, Sunshine, Cecille, Clint Heargraves, Simon Caldwell, Ransom, Toupee, Ladyboy, Nick Thayer, Faktor, RifRaf, Not Happy Jan, Peter Finger, Mo Ichi and a stack of others that we can't remember at the moment... :(
Roxy is now headlined by Kiti , Dave Pham, Mike Callander, Viva L'Amour & Agent 86.
Roxy was the first club in Melbourne to champion the Electro-clash sound on a weekly basis & has long had a faithful crowd of fun & fresh music loverzz!
The music format reflects all manner of styles related to the "electro" sound and includes Real Electro, Techno, Minimal, EBM, New-Wave, Romantic and Italo-Disco.
The Roxy Mix, put together in 2003 (we think) and available below, gives a good indication of the styles that have been represented...

Having started DJ'ing in clubs in 1989, he's somewhat of a seasoned pro with notable achievements including runner-up/finalist results in both DMC and ITF competitions, several music releases, countless support roles for internationals and a string of successful club nights stretching back to 1990. Having started Roxy in 2001, he's still at it with some more music releases penciled in for 2008. More information can be found HERE.
The music obession/collection started with a 7" copy of Duran Duran "My Own Way" for 99 cents from Kmart when Kiti was 5.
Kiti first gigs were DJ'ing at the the Licker/Faggot parties at Bourgie (now known as Horse Bazaar), sharing a residency alongside Sunshine at Electric Ladyland, becoming one of the promoters and, arguably one of the most popular resident DJ's, at Roxy, playing at Honkytonks/Third Class (doing all kinds of stuff... Indie, Alternative & Hip-Hop blah, blah) on Saturday nights, running the monthly LOUD parties and playing at various spots around town. Kiti, along side Agent 86, has started working on a new live act and label, Von Queer, as the singer/song writer! Her pipes can be heard on several '86 trax already, "(Come To) Roxy!" (Vicious/Jam), "Plastic People" & "Dominator". Kiti also hosts a weekly radio spot on KissFM, "The Variety Show" Monday nights 11-12.30am.
Her Techno/Electro/EBM/Tech-House styles are almost always aimed squarely at the dancefloor & she consistently rocks crowds without resorting to cliched sounds & "popular" tracks, earning herself a loyal fanbase of discerning punters looking for something unique in a scene saturated by clones.

Dave Pham began chasing his musical aspirations by collecting vinyl in the early nineties. For many years he only had the use of a very primitive stereo and one rather beaten up old turntable. After befriending a local Dj who lent Dave his decks, Dave began his mixing expedition and never looked back. Over 10 years have past, and since these humble beginnings Dave Pham has become one of Australia’s most sought after Techno and Electro artists going on to headline countless parties, rock innumerable dancefloors and support acts such as Dave Clarke, Luke Slater, Jeff Mills, Fumiya Tanaka, Richie Hawtin, Vitalic, Miss Kittin & the Hacker, David Caretta, Dj Sneak, Tiga, Felix tha Housecat, Phoenecia, Richard Devine, Kiko, Hakan Lidbo to name but a few...

MIKE CALLANDER
Mike Callander plays techno and house music because he loves it... and has done so in Melbourne and across Australia for the last six years.
He also throws parties (Fokus, Nano etc.) and has toured acts to Australia (like Michael Mayer, DJ T., Superpitcher and Mathew Jonson on their first tours down under) and has worked extensively in record distribution... ...but recently his focus has shifted away from the business and toward the art...
So, after seeing his Honkytonks mix CD in record stores in Japan, and then heading to Europe to play a series of memorable gigs at Berlin's Watergate, Bar 25 and Cookies (to celebrate DJ T.'s 20 years of DJing), and returning to his residencies at Melbourne institutions such as Sunny, and the ever impressive Nano events, Mike thought it was time for a new bio.
And then he read the bio for one of his favourite DJs and producers, Switzerland's Luciano, and wished it could be so short and sweet... ..."just a man who had dreams and went for it". So, the most important to him today is that he wakes up to the dream, and he is indeed going for it! You'll find him doing it every day in the studio and every weekend in the clubs.
