REBECCA CHAMBERS-VOCALS
After attending a course in performing arts at Salisbury College, Rebecca joined Blues Express.
She left in 2005 and spent time traveling before returning to the UK to play with various local bands.
Richard invited her to join The Ruby Slippers Band on her return.
DAN LEESE-PIANO AND KEYBOARDS
Dan Leese is from Basingstoke and began playing piano in 2006 with The Marvels (with Paul Taylor on drums). They released their 2nd CD in 2008 and have played at various venues and festivals in London and the South of England area.
Dan also plays keyboards in The Raz Brothers and the North Hampshire based burlesque jazz group Lucifer Jazz and the Love Rats, who supported Chas 'n' Dave in July 2008. Among his influences he lists New Orleans piano legends Professor Longhair, Dr John and Henry Butler
RICHARD HORNER-GUITAR
Richard’s first band was the Evil Eyes, which started performing in 1963. They racked up supporting roles with many R & B dignitaries from the sixties, including the Yardbirds (with Eric Clapton), the Tridents with Jeff Beck, Sonny Boy Williamson, Van Morrison (with Them). Paul Taylor joined the band on drums prior to a tour of Sweden in 1967 and the band stayed together till 1968.
Richard went on to play with Daddy’s Sons in Paris in 1968 and played short stints with many bands in the early 70’s including Carol Grimes’ Uncle Dog.
After a prolonged absence from performing live music, Richard started the west country band ‘Blues Express’ in 1992. and continued with them until leaving in Dec 2006.
JAMES BUDDEN-FRETLESS BASS
When I’m not modelling for Gucci, spying for the government, copying a Picasso or carrying out a daring jewel heist in Monte Carlo, I am probably playing the bass.
I like more kinds of music than I have space to mention, but I enjoy playing jazz, funk and blues more than anything else.
Depending on the tune I will play a Fender Jazz, a Guild semi-acoustic fretless bass or double bass.
I have been lucky enough to play all over the country and occasionally abroad (do Wales and Ireland count?) with some brilliant bands and artists and hope I may always continue to meet and learn from other musicians. It is the greatest thrill.
My most exciting showbiz moments were Jools Holland asking my date of birth and Suzi Quattro asking where the studio coffee machine was (it was broken).
PAUL TAYLOR-DRUMS
From the age of 14, Paul started playing drums with local Basingstoke bands, before moving to London in the Summer of '66 to play for David Bowie’s band, the Lower 3rd, as well as backing Leil Landon of Flowerpot Men and the Ivy League.
He joined Basingstoke band The Evil Eyes who had been offered a tour and recording contract in Sweden, where they spent most of 1967. The band returned to the UK and continued playing into 1968
The 70's was spent in cover bands, based in Hampshire and Berkshire, of which the Phil Howard Band stands out as being one deserving a special mention.
After a break from live music Paul joined Hammered, a band playing Cream/Hendrix and Led Zep and spent many good years playing some really great music with them culminating in being the opening act with the Crazy World of Arthur Brown at the Isle of Wight festival in 2002.
The last couple of years he has been having a lot of fun playing and recording with local band The Marvels.
