The Rukus family is a diverse crew of cats from all over the country. Currently, emcees
KeithElite and Rudy Rude are recording tracks, rockin shows with DJ Blenda, and reppin for our crew in Tampa, FL. Rude was born in Tampa and KeithElite was born in Yonkers, NY. Both of us have lived all over the place being in military families. We have been a crew since high school when we lived overseas in Okinawa, Japan. Much love to all the people that shared that experience with us over there... Being military kids, moving around all the time, and living overseas opened our eyes to a lot of different things that have influenced our music and our lives beyond explanation. Since leaving Japan, we linked up here in Tampa and continued that bond that was created when we were kids.
We try to create music that speaks on our lives and how we see things, unlike a lot of so called rappers these days who try to sound like the next man. Too many mainstream artists give the people false images of what life is really about. It seems like a lot of rappers these days are unoriginal and afraid to be themselves. Back to The Rukus...Rudy Rude is behind the production, the mic, and the mixing boards and KeithElite is the cat that's always down to freestyle and battle if necessary. Overall, we'd like people to listen to our music and knod their heads to what they hear. We'd also like to network with other musicians who have the same vision and focus about their music as we do. Tampa has a bunch of up and coming emcees and musicians and the scene is growing. We're glad to be a part of what is going on here. Besides rockin the stage with the Gwan Massive crew, we've also performed on bills with the likes of Surreal, Louis Logic, RADIx, LMNO of The Visionaries, !Mayday!, Hangar 18, The AB's (formerly Asamov), Blackalicious, J-Live, and the legendary De La Soul, as well as rockin the 2nd Stage of the Rock The Bells Festival in Miami, just to name a few...
Be on the lookout for that official full length release in early 2008. It's coming.
