Band MembersCurrently: Brett Alexander Boye (Bagpiper/Vocalist/gtrs/etc), Burt 7 (Mannequinn head & drummer) and a bunch of moodswinging robots. Previous Members: Kevin Cooper (bass), Kermit Hill Lyman III (guitars), Paul Chell (guitars), Jason Stuart (Drums & Percussion), Matt Houser (Drums & Percussion), Pat Sifer (Drums & Percussion), Mike Carr (Drums & Percussion) No, the movie Spinal Tap was not based on The Rusty Nails band era experience.
InfluencesThe Who, Peter Gabriel, The Flaming Lips, Radiohead, Big Country
Sounds LikeThe FUTURE!!!! This is a bagpipe/guitar/ebow/drums/piano/bass/random item experimental indierock-derived entity. Seriously, just listen to the songs above to get an idea for yourself. The New Colony lp is a bit more futuristic in scope than earlier works. On my website, I stated that the ghost of Bucky Fuller must have floated into the studio during the recording.

   About The Rusty Nails
go to www.cdbaby.com/cd/rustynails to purchase the CD for a mere $5.00.

1995

The Rusty Nails concept is born after five years experience playing guitar for the legend-less Spongegod and two years of bagpipe tutelage courtesy of Sean and Joe McGonigle of the St. Columcille Pipe Band in Kearny, NJ. Some 4-track demos ensued and showed possible signs of potential. Certain songs were chosen for further development.

1996

Recorded the first official self-titled CD full-length LP at "Your Mom's" Studio in Pennsylvania. The album was completed but not officially released until early........

1997

Self-titled album released on Coolidge Records gets mixed and utterly irrelevant reviews. A band is assembled consisting of Kevin Cooper (bass), Jason Stuart (drums), Paul Chell (12-string guitar) and Brett (bagpipes, vox). First official shows are in Chapel Hill, NC even though the band is based in Philadelphia. A foreshadowing of the incredible illogic and disorganization to follow. Eventually, there were performances in Philly, Reading, NYC and so forth. The Rusty Nails were officially off and stumbling.

1998

More live shows are performed in various clubs ranging from dank basements to large halls (without the large crowds) including first week-long tour down south. Brett performs in front of approximately 17,000 people at Giants Stadium on a somewhat regular basis during various Metrostars (now called the NY Red Bulls - don't ask) soccer matches. Late in the year, The Rusty Nails begin work on the second LP recording in Mebane, NC at Duck Kee studios and also at Dessau Studios in NYC. Matt Houser joins the Rusty Nails family on drums and performs in a number of shows as well as on the second album.

1999

The second album entitled "No Miracle in Ruins" is completed and released on Coolidge Records around August just after a week-long tour in the south amidst insane heat. More irrelevant and mixed reviews follow. More relevant shows are performed in preparation for Tour of.......

2000

Another tour mostly in the southern United States is completed. Some good shows and some not-so-good shows accompanied with a multitude of bizarre "David Lynch" moments on and off the stage. "No Miracle in Ruins" is further promoted. A fan base slowly begins to develop. An EP is recorded at Melody Lanes Recording Studio and later released on Coolidge Records as part of a split record compilation with the band Aftertax. Still more irrelevant reviews ensue. Week-long tour in December with new guitarist, Kermit Hill Lyman III.

2001

Early in 2001, Webco Studios is unofficially born at apartment 16F in Battery Park City, NYC. A long weekend excursion in April down to Charlotte, NC and Savannah, GA (with actual large and receptive crowds) with new drummer Mike Carr. Some more random local shows in the general Philadelphia area are performed. 9/11 occurs, Brett (only two blocks away) runs and jumps onto a tugboat fracturing heel. Nonetheless, booking of Fall tour continues. Jason Stuart is reinstated as drummer (except for the Boston and Vermont shows early in tour which were performed by Matt Houser). The following October, The Rusty Nails tour quite extensively over most of the eastern half of the United States. The tour is deemed successful. New material for the next full-length album begins development as a few local shows are performed.

2002

The recording of Vestiges is completed at Webco Studios at the interim location in Long Beach Island, NJ. A long weekend excursion during St. Patrick's is completed introducing new drummer Pat Sifer (being the 4th drummer in the band, people begin to compare us to Spinal Tap). First ever "one man show" is field-tested in Queens, NY as possible side-project. Due to the 2002 World Cup, the Rusty Nails go into another short hiatus. Vestiges is finally released just in the nick of time before the Fall tour in November. The Rusty Nails travelled all the way west to California and back in a span of three weeks for the first and last time. The Rusty Nails play their last show at The North Star Bar in Philly in Mid-December.

2003

Webco Studios relocated to Atlantic Highlands, NJ. Some songs written, recorded and mixed throughout the year. Burt 7 becomes 5th drummer but later leaves after recording sessions. Ten songs assembled together and are eventually mastered.

2004

New website launched. The NEW COLONY is released.....unofficially of course. Red Spot of Jupiter spotted on the belly of Brett Alexander Boye. Burt 7 leaves as drummer to pursue his goal as chairman of The Enterprise Party.

2005

The Rusty Nails (Picture Show) is more or less developed. Distro Deal made with CDBaby.com.

2006

"The New Colony" enters the grinding world of radio promotion with limited success. First ever Rusty Nails video is completed for "We Can Find a Way." The search for Webco Studio's new home begins. THE RUSTY NAILS RENEWABLE ENERGY INITIATIVE is launched!

2007

The Rusty Nails enter the realm of MYSPACE. Uh oh.....stay tuned.

Please check out our new comedic “vampire bankers” music video. The guy who directed this also directed Madonna’s first music vid. We think it’s pretty funny.
It’s available as a free mp3 download on http://www.ukejackson.com
