The Ryan Observation, at the time of this authoring, consisted of three: Jeremy Clark (guitar, bass, DOB 1977), Chris Clark (drums, DOB 1975), and Todd Weaver (vocals, DOB 1976). After several failed attempts (10 years) at aggregating a successful group of musicians in a cultureless Odessa, TX, these three decided to forget about playing live and concentrate on composition and recording at LAKE BASE Studios (Jeremy's home). The process in itself (writing and recording simultaneously) resulted in an unexpected but later welcomed re-molding of the band's style. Trying to keep a hard edge, the guys learned the importance of texture and mood to the overall writing process and were ultimately pleased with the result. 'One & Zero' is a fair portrayal of this process of change. While trying to create a style of their own and at the same time feeding off of their influences (Tool, Rush, Hum, Pumpkins, Helmet, Pearl Jam, Chevelle, Pantera, A Perfect Circle, The Mars Volta, RATM, ... , to name a few), they self produced 'One & Zero' from riff to cd. Live playing is still a passion to the band, but this writing/recording break was just what they needed to find 'their' way, so to speak. This was just the beginning. With plans to recruit a few missing members and hit the road, TRO hopes to share 'One & Zero' with a larger audience through a powerful live experience. As far as what the music sounds like, listen and judge for yourself.
