The Safety Hazards started off as a trio group called Angels in the Grave with Max Parks on guitar, Aaron Homard on guitar, and Nick Ghormley on the bass. After a while with people joining and leaving for a variety of reasons the band quit playing and left Max and Aaron to do their music
Later the band reformed with Mark Kemp as the singer. Their style was kind of a post-hardcore/punk as the singer made the fastest lead guitar riffs. After a while of playing together Mark graduated and left the band. Nick left to do his own music with some other friends leaving Max and Aaron back on to their duo music life.
Over a summer one time, Aaron found Joe Rodriguez, a local bass player who just happened to go to the same school as they did. He came to play with them and soon joined. With a bass, guitar, and drums, all they needed was a singer. Max called up his childhood friend, Wilson Tarbox, and asked him to sing for them. Wilson agreed and there they were: a full band playing in the abandoned floor of the Liberty Building making the banks 5 floors below irritated with the noise level. The Safety Hazards were born.
Sadly, Wilson went to school out in Virginia. So he left during the school year leaving Joe, Max, and Aaron to create music. But of course gigs came up and after a while we needed a full time singer in Des Moines. Aaron knew Andrew Davidson had loved to create music and wanted to be in a band so he called him up to perform their first showing at Entertainment Tonight at Hoover High School. The show was so-so with having 3 original tunes and a few covers.
Music went along pretty well until Joe started getting in trouble with the law and doing drugs. After a long fight and stuggle we had to let Joe go. That left Max, Aaron, and Andrew behind with the band. Aaron called up Evan Hoyt, a good friend of him and his brother to possibly play a show or two on the bass. Sure enough there he is playing with us at our first club gig in the Vaudeville Mews. The show went pretty well for teaching Evan the music the week before. Then we got offered a spot to play at Relay for Life at Hoover High School. We accepted and Evan agreed to play with us another show.
At the Relay for Life showing, Aaron asked Jay Jacobson and Drew Davis to have fun and rock out on the tambourine. That show was it! The Safety Hazards and Jay and Drew rocked that 16' x 12' stage in the windy, cold weather with the energy to power cities. After realizing that Jay would be an awesome addition to the band, he joined.
And there you have it: Andrew Davidson, Jay Jacobson, Max Parks, Evan Hoyt, and Aaron Homard. The Safety Hazards
