Demo Review:
"The opening track "Miracles" rumbles away like an old Banshees track - for a few seconds that is, before a perfect punk pop tune comes bursting out. An excellently infectious vocal delivers the lyrics in fine English pop style while the instruments, well, just get on with the job. "Ladies and Gents" carries a fiery punk blast - XTC meets Buzzcocks with a tad of 999 maybe - but with a contemporary, Arctic Monkeys like edge. "Catch the Light" is jagged one minute, swirly the next, taking things into uncharted territory. Ace" - Neon Promotions, November 2006
Live Review:
"The Sandrina Mixtapes headline tonite - and a good crowd is here to see them. The four piece play an energetic set that is fuelled by a punky edge that always ensures an in yer face, edgy delivery. Plenty of modern influences are to be heard too, such as Killers, Arctic Monkeys, and the singer has a classic punk pop vocal style that is very now. There's an energy in the band that brings to mind Buzzcocks, as the fast exciting songs are delivered one after another. Definitely something a little bit special these - keep your eyes out for them." - Neon Promotions, 24/10/06
The Sandrina Mixtapes - Gone AWOL...'s Friend Space (Top 8)
The Sandrina Mixtapes - Gone AWOL... has 640 friends.
Not a problem son. It was good to finally meet you and have a chat. Cheers for the opportunity - please excuse my grumpiness...comes with the territory I suppose.
The National eh? Was I warbling about them. Now, best to start with Alligator, move to most recent 'Boxer' and then look back at Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers, Cherry Tree EP and their self titled debut. A lot of the lyrics on Boxer are related/stolen from their first album - I like that idea. Especially when the lyrics are generally outstanding.
Triple header for us this weekend. Let me know if you'd like to be on the guest list.
