SATELLITES NEWS .... It was an honour for THE SATELLITES to support WANDA JACKSON - The Queen of Rockabilly, at the Governor Hindmarsh Hotel on Thurs 17th June. THE SATELLITES are no stranger to her live performances, appearing on the same stage at both the "Viva Las Vegas Festival" and "Wintersun Festival". This time however, they had the opportunity to work with this true legend, supporting and backing her on stage. She was a sincere, true professional and aside from supporting such acts as CHRIS ISSAK and THE STRAY CATS, THE SATELLITES are honoured again to have had this opportunity with WANDA JACKSON. Thankyou to D J Jess for supplying his gear and helping to contribute to a great night of Rockabilly. .... It has been a year since THE SATELLITES have toured interstate. Their last trip was to Wintersun 2009, where they celebrated their 11 year anniversary as consistent participants in the event. Although interest has been put forward, THE SATELLITES have agreed on many occasions to decline any tours due to family commitments - that is until now! Yes, they are confirmed to play in Sydney for one show only, so if your up that way, don't miss this opportunity! They will be at the grand opening of the "SYDNEY ROCK & ROLL/ALTERNATIVE MARKET" and they hope to see you all there. .... There are a couple of festivals coming up where THE SATELLITES are due to perform. One is the "VICTOR HARBOUR ROCK&ROLL/ROCKABILLY FESTIVAL" which is on the weekend of 18th/19th September. There are other acts such as "Lucky Seven", "The Belvederes" and "Sons of Sun", accompanied by D.J Jess spinning the wax. Now's the time to book your accommodation for a great weekend away! Also is the "Crown and Anchor Hotel"s first all day "ROCKABILLY FESTIVAL", held on Sun 3rd October. THE SATELLITES are on the bill, so look out for other upcoming acts also yet to be confirmed! .... THE SATELLITES will not be performing at "MILDURA WINTERSUN" due to other commitments, despite rumours. .... THE SATELLITES would like to make mention of Christine's "ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL" radio show which can be heard every Sunday from 2-5pm on 88.7 COAST FM. She has recently celebrated her 5th year anniversary, so if you haven't tuned in by now, where have you been? Congratulations Christine! Also, you can hear Barry and Pam's "BOOGIE SHACK" every Friday night 7-8, on COAST FM, for some more great rockabilly and get the lowdown on gigs for the weekend. Last but certainly not least, also on COAST FM, you can hear Malcolm Hill's "THURSDAY DELUX" from 8-10pm, consisting of Rockabilly/Roots music along with a few unexpected surprises! THREE GREAT SHOWS ON THE COAST!!!! .... Don't forget to also tune into Carmen's "Doo Wop Corner" Fridays 4pm - 5pm on 93.7 - 3D RADIO. She plays some fantastic Rhythm & Blues, Jump, Swing, Rockabilly, Ska and of course, sensational Doo Wop. .... Don't forget to keep updated with 'the man behind the cam' - Dave Gartland. This photographer has come all the way from the U.K and is the king of rock&roll/rockabilly photography.
