Hey Guys and girls. Some of you may know some of you dont but we have decided to call it a day with the savage jazz. We havent actually been a band for a while and I think I need to make some kind of closure otherwise we will keep getting request for gigs and such! The reasons are mixture of things really-people moving away, moving on with other projects and general life just getting in the way. Im sure I speak for everyone in the band when we say we have had an amazing time doing this with good mates. The support form people along the way has been amazing also, shout outs go out to ruth, emily, phoebe, luke, guy, tony, giles mum and dad, madge, hugo @ pura vida and so many other people I could sit all day here and I still wouldnt have finished it!
So yes, hope everyone who we met along the way got a kick out of our music in some way and maybe we will see you at another gig from one of our own projects!
Love, peace and fucking.
Tomcat x
The Savage Jazz are four housemates from sunny Guildford. Relentless gigging and recording over the last year has seen the band develop a unique sound, moulded by four musical individuals. The result is a mash-up of progressive ska and reggae with a sprinkling of rock and drum n bass. Live shows will always leave the audience sweaty and filled to the brim with savage goodness.
In July, The Savage Jazz released their 12 track album, Mixtape Voodoo. Having sold over 600 copies in the first two months, the band have seen awesome support across the UK from their ever-growing fanbase.
Here are some things people have said so far:
“It's happy music with brain as well as heart -- though non-jazz lovers shouldn't be put off by their name: they owe more to Razorlight and Jack Johnson than Miles Davis. A real find.”
- Dominic Welles, Editor, The Times (Knowledge Magazine) -
"We're almost scared for our lives before 'Savage Jazz' (song) rolls around, as it would be a funny thing to be killed by perfection hitting your ears...everybody should be listening to The Savage Jazz!"
- Han Quintrell, -
"An elevating blend of nu-reggae, soul ska rock and funky pop-a perfect soundtrack for the summer."
Sorry to hear you guys are going your separate ways. I figured from the lack of updates on the MySpace. Hope you're all doing well and glad that it ended on good terms. You deserved better and ought to have been picked up by a decent label. I truly believe that and still argue your case to this day with anyone that mentions The Savage Jazz.
Take it easy guys and good luck with the future projects. I've got a lot of fond memories and will always have your tunes. You'll get a chapter or three in my memoirs!
