Detroit's historic Scarab Club has been dedicated to serving the public and Michigan artists of all disciplines for 100 years. The club accomplishes this mission through classes, lectures, exhibitions, special events, and tours. The Scarab Club strives to promote local artists, emerging and experienced. It also hosts a variety of educational and instructional events.
The Scarab Club building, constructed in 1928, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as a site of historical and architectural significance. The club features a main gallery, a spacious beamed lounge area with fireplace, artists’ studios, and a walled garden and courtyard. Over the decades the beams in the lounge have been signed by club presidents, supporters of the arts, and well-known local and international artists, such as Diego Rivera, Norman Rockwell, Marshall Fredricks, Marcel Duchamp and Tyree Guyton.
The galleries are open to the public from noon-5pm Wednesday thru Sunday and during evening and weekend hours for special events.
The Scarab Club is located at the northeast corner of John R and Farnsworth, just east of the Detroit Institute of Arts. Lighted parking is available in a secure lot behind the building.

If you would like to be added to the Artist's Call for Entry email list for furture exhibitions, please email Treena Flannery Ericson at tericson@scarabclub.org. Be sure to put "Call for Entry" in the subject line!
Who I'd like to meet: The Scarab Club is in a rebuilding period and actively seeking new members and volunteers who are passionate about the arts in general, and the Detroit cultural scene in particular.
The many happy hours I spent here and at the old club on Forest Ave (1924-1940), with Paul Honore, Walt Speck, Sydney W. Walton, Eldon Roths, Floyd Nixon, Beaver Edwards and a host of international guests.
Hello to everyone over at the Scarab Club-- thanks for adding us.
Arts Academy in the Woods is a charter high school for the fine and performing arts, located in Fraser, MI, just north of Detroit.
AAW is an excellent choice for kids that are into the arts. We are always looking for talented new students. AAW students all have an arts major, and enjoy an excellent academic program as well.
AAW accepts students in grades 9-12 from all over southeast Michigan, and is tuition free!
Please consider helping to promote arts education in SE Michigan by putting us in your top friends.
