   About The Scaremongers
Who are the Scaremongers? It's a mystery that serious archaeologists are still struggling to understand. Are they a myth, like Kaiser Sosa? Are they a dream, like Valhalla or Brigadoon? Do they live in Reality as we know it? Or are they a fiction, like Santa Claus or Sasquwatch? Many men have wasted their lives trying to answer this conundrum. What we do know is, like freedom and justice, they live in the hearts of good people the planet over, and so long as we can conjure them in our imaginations, we will never be alone.

To obtain copies of the Historical Documents that The Scaremongers have given the World as a guide to enlightenment, you could always try:

The Scaremongers' Cloudberry Single, assembled in the hallowed halls of Cloudberry Records, (scroll down through the catalogue to No 087).

The Scaremongers' First Double A-Side, archived in the palatial vaults of Vinyl Tap.

Simon,

Great of you to make mention of the Comsat Angels on The Culture Show. I'm sure it caused quite a few people out there to check them out. I can't see the show myself because I'm not in the UK; the clips are blocked on the website!

Oh yes...some fine stuff on your page here - a world away from what I produce myself and something that takes the listener on a trip (as much good painting, literature, film music etc. does.)

Cheers - a real discovery

The Junction is always good. Lots of people go there. Failing that, the Corn Exchange.
Intrigued to hear about Heffers - I have a friend who also used to work there.
Before he saw the light and went into independent bookselling, that is!

I enjoyed the appearance on the Culture Show - to be honest, it was the best thing about the show.
Any chance of a gig at Latitude? Or, just generally down South? Or is that up South? I can never remember...

haha strange to think that two years of my life were spent studying "speedy sue roberts"'s poetry!
And I have a strong feeling I failed that paper.

Nice choons.

The Simon Kaylor Quartet @ Welcome Home Sexy

Having studied under the jazz titan Jerry Bergonzi – Kaylor brings his no frills attached, straight down the line jazz genius to Welcome Home Sexy for a post Valentine’s Day jazz love in. Having performed with artists as diverse as Bob Mintzer, Joanna McGregor, Roy Wood (ELO, Wizard, The Move) & Marissa Price (Prince & Chaka Khan) Kaylor ploughs a musical furrow at once ancient & modern. He is more than loved up by the talents of Jamil Sherrif on the ivories - who regularly performs with the likes of Zoltan Dekany & Pat McCarthy in his acclaimed octet; Russ Pearson on Upright Bass who finds time to perform with the likes of Soweto Kinch, Joanna McGregor, & the Grand Union Orchestra as well as producing commissions for the BBC & Ch4 & finally Dave Walsh on Kit -a man equally at home playing jazz, Latin, drum 'n' bass or rock & who has bashed his pig skins with the likes of John Surman, Stan Sulzman, Jim Mullen amongst other. Lovely music, lovely guys, lovely groove. Lovely.

Lostmusic Presents The Soup Kitchen (with bands!)

Lostmusic Presents

Click the flyer to buy advance tickets for just £4 (plus 50p booking fee)

The next Soup Kitchen night has been confirmed for Saturday 2nd February 2008 and will take place at The Grosvenor in Stockwell. It's not too far from the Brixton Jamm.

The club will be free entry for all those watching the bands and for anyone joining after 11pm - the club will run to the early hours of the morning.

Smokers Die Younger

Coming down from Sheffield for a rare London show we have Smokers Die Younger who have been described as an astounding, soul-embracing band you dreamed you were discovering throughout your teenage years.

"chaotic, messy, exciting, amateurish and extremely endearing" - Rough Trade Shops

Dýrðin

Coming over all the way from Iceland for a whirlwind visit. This is their only London show of their brief stay.

Champion Kickboxer

A feast of beautifully organic pop music a little like the Super Furry Animals with great vocal harmonies and a melancholic air that drifts through all the songs. A must see band.

The Bridport Dagger

"The Bridport Dagger are a bass-less 3-piece who craft darkly hypnotic songs that conjure up images of the past without ever falling into the realms of nostalgia" so says Maps magazine.
