Dace's Rock 'n' More Music Academy started life in the summer of 2005 as The School of Rock. Since then we changed our name and became non-profit so that we could achieve the things in the statement above.

We’ve already given private musical instrument lessons to hundreds of kids in the area. We’ve taught a couple dozen up-and-coming bands how to get their act together and take it on the road. We’ve helped them take it on the road at our highly-attended Rockcitals,,. We’ve taught many of them to stand up and sing beautifully even after so many people in their lives had told them that they couldn’t hit a single note correctly. We’ve given a lot of shy, introverted kids the power and self-esteem to get up in front of large crowds and express themselves. At the same time, we’ve given outgoing, hyperactive kids a positive, safe, and fun way to use their extra energy. Simply stated, Dace's Rock 'n' More Music Academy has already given hundreds of kids -and a few dozen adults too- in the Maple Valley area musical experiences and opportunities that did not even exist anywhere just a few years ago. From the comments we receive, the students, their friends and family, and many others in the community seem to appreciate the work we’ve done so far. We hope you’ve taken the opportunity to be entertained by them as well. The end user of our product is you. We hope you enjoy us.

History of Rock 'n' More

Dace's Rock 'n' More Music Academy was born out of the necessity to have music lessons in the Maple Valley area. Demand has been high and space limited for both students and music teachers in the area. Rock 'n' More solves this problem by delivering high-quality, experienced teachers for guitar, bass, drums, and vocals.

Our Rockology Class has also seen high demand from the outset. In this class, students learn to interact and play with other musicians with common tastes in music and similar experience




Dace Anderson (Owner/Guitar/Voice/Rockology)
Dace has had a varied career in music. He began in retail while still going to school at Bellevue Community College where he studied classical guitar and earned a music degree. After a few years at Musicians Friend and Guitar Center, Dace went to work at eMedia, makers of the top-selling CD-ROM guitar tutorial Guitar Method. While there he honed his ear by editing transcriptions, and got many of his ideas for his own method of teaching guitar.

Rockology (rock band classes)

The Rockology class is designed with the knowledge that students who play with other musicians tend to learn at a faster rate. Learning how to turn their lessons into music is the key aspect of this class.

In this class the student will learn to:
** Play with and interact with other musicians
** Get their eyes out of and ears into the music. Learning to listen to themselves and everybody else in the group instead of reciting exercises.
** Use their equipment.
** Perform
** Rehearse efficiently
** Arrange songs for performance in a way that best suits their style, range, technical proficiency, and interests.

Vocal Class

This class will work on fundamental aspects of vocal performance. Heres what well work on: breathing, warming up, singing scales, finding the right pitch, finding the right key for you and harmonizing. This class will be repetitive in these areas, giving the student a weekly primer for his/her Rockology class. By the way, music reading is not a prerequisite.
