Hailing from the North Pole, the Scrooges are the premier Christmas themed Stooges cover band. Brainchild of D. Unger (and featuring current and former members of Lamont, Fast Actin' Fuses, Random Road Mother, the Blood Vessels, Rock City Crimewave, Antler, Motherboar, Cortez, Mess With the Bull and Cropduster), the Scrooges have become a tradition in the Boston area. Last Saturday night marked the return of the Scrooges, Bostons finest Christmas-themed Stooges cover band. Comprising members of Lamont, Rock City Crimewave, and Fast Actin Fuses, the group paraded through the front door of a sold-out OBriens wearing Santa costumes, with the lead Scrooge Santa Pop? Iggy Kringle? greeting the crowd with a "Merry Christmas, motherfuckers!" before launching into "No Fun." In Allston, at least, the holiday season doesnt really begin until six drunken Santas squeeze onto a tiny stage and belt out "Loose" and "TV Eye." In a highlight worthy of a Rankin-Bass special, Iggy Claus (a/k/a FAFs Dave Unger) made a tinsel tourniquet and shot himself up with a candy cane, then pointed it at the audience and asked, "Who wants to lick Santas stick?" No one seemed to be interested, but we were all reminded that Christmas isnt just about
capitalism and cookies.

Santa Claus is a jolly man who wears a soft red suit and brings toys to children. The Stooges are a rock band led by iconic, skinny frontman Iggy Pop. Put them together and you have the Scrooges, a Stooges cover band made up of local musicians who dress up like Kris Kringle.
