The Sea Swallows play candy pop with an art damage center. Their muse guides them on a path to rock modesty and roll immortality. Reminiscent of the guitar chimes of the Teenbeat and Slumberland stables and the anlog sweep of Lotus Crown, the Sea Swallows are a unique musical experience. Over the course of many mutations, they have crafted a sound filled with razor sharp melodies and arrangements. Although a fresh departure from the rigid excesses of psychedelic rock, their music is nonetheless wholly consistent with the legacy of over fifty years of altered states.
The Sea Swallows began as a diversion from the brain melting pedal excess of shoegazer outfits Kindergarten and Capsella ironically enough as an acoustic cover project. Fully immersed in the role of troubador, M. Capsella regaled the crowd with versions of Helium, Clash, and Wedding Present songs at Rat Bastard's Bored Shitless Festival in November of 1999 in the form of a debut performance. Shortly after a memorable gig at the short-lived Home on Griffin Road wherein the protagonist was joined on stage by Bobby Load for a rip through "Clampdown," the main band, Capsella, reached the end of its road.
Inspired by the success of his bandmate's succeeding visions in the ashes of Capsella, namely the twin phoenix (or is it phoeni?) Fashionista and Rocking Horse Winner, Marshmallow began rehearsals for TSS Mach 2. At this point, the coffeehouse stylings were shelved for amped up punch and original material, although the covers remain essential to the creative core of the band (Exhibit A: frequent revivals of Arthur Lee's "Live and Let Live"). With a lineup featuring Joel Pelkey on Juno 6, AJ on bass, and Rick Stevens on drums, the new troupe began gigging around town in the nascent 305 indie pop scene at venues ranging from Churchill's to Poplife (where the group surreptiously (or so was thought) drank most of the free beer) frequently in the company of the aforementioned Fashionista.
Some babies, mortgages, and amicable partings later, The Sea Swallows had been pared down to M. by 2003. Version 3.0 was made possible by the subtle unearthing of a magic box (BR1180) and made its live performance debut opening for Great Lakes and Of Montreal at West Palm Beach's Respectable Street Cafe. This coincided with the release of "The Secret Chiefs" EP. Of this manifestation of TSS, esteemed pundits like Splendidezine ("...the fact that The Sea Swallows express themselves through this racket suggests that there's something exciting in store for us should these guys reveal themselves to the masses...") and Steve Rullman/The Honeycomb ("...you should probably try doing that on an acoustic...") had nothing but encouraging words and exciting buzz to say.
Since then, the band has overseen the release of the "Three Songs" EP (2003), the "Here Comes Yr Boy b/w Baby God" CD single (2005). In 2006, the band was invited to contribute a track, "The Forked Tongue Knows Sin," to Volume One of the Daydream Generation compilation. 2007 brought the debut long player "Master Mute in Havana, Peking." For the past 8 years, TSS has been gadding about counties, spotted setting up shop in venues like Respectable Street, P.S. 14, the Kitchen, Dada, Poplife, and The Edge/Chili Pepper/Revolution/America's Backyard (oh my lord, whatever they're calling it these days). Adopting the modest goal of rocking South Florida like a hurricane, The Sea Swallows never fail to provide an exciting aural display of tones and colourings for fans of the Cocteau Twins/Birthday Party nexus. THE SEA SWALLOWS SOUND LIKE NO OTHER BAND HERE! (The TriCounty area or the planet Earth, you decide) Come hear for yourself.

Hi there The Sea Swallows first of all we'd like to say thanks for being our myspace pal. We wanted to make sure you knew the reason incase we suddenly vanish off of your friends list. The movement we've started for indie artists has grown significantly and consumes all of our time these days. We seldom sign into our myspace account and this is making several people believe that we are ignoring them. We are not ignoring anyone, we wanted everyone to know that. What we're doing has become so busy we just don't have the time for myspace any longer, so in all honesty we are probably going to just close our myspace account.
Many people wanted to use us in the future so if you were one of those people make sure you bookmark the link below so that in the event that we do close our myspace account you won't lose contact with us. I wish you the best of luck in your music career. Thanks again for being our myspace pal.
Hey thanks for coming out, you're one talented motherfucker and well post some bodacious motherfucking pictures of you in a couple of days because that's the way we roll...
