Bio
The Secret Whistle is an instrumental musical duo, consisting of Dan Friedman and Forest Gallien. They met while attending college at the University of Oregon and formed the project shortly after. Their live and recording set up entails bass guitars with various effects (looping, delay, etc.) and mpc/turntables. The Secret Whistle has released one full length album and two E.P.s within the last two years and are currently working on material for a fourth effort to be released later this year. Their style combines elements of hip-hop, dub, ambient, and electronica into a unique synthesis of sound and music. They use various recording methods unique to their genre such as recording and looping live drum samples, layering multiple bass parts over each other, and taking samples exclusively from vinyl records. Now based out of Portland, Oregon, The Secret Whistle plan to continue expanding their musical horizons. -

So I downloaded an F# A# ∞ vinyl rip the other day, and when I finally listened to it I noticed something familiar at the end of the first side that wasn't on the CD version. Yeah, that banjo riff in Shadow Act III. That's pretty cool, I love GYBE.
I think my favorite is Confidant, btw.
