MTV LIVE PERFORMANCE:

Sounds Like"After watching Toronto's These Electric Lives play to a near-packed Mod Club, we could see why these guys have built up a substantial following.

Led by charismatic singer/guitarist [Mark Stanfield] and backed by solid-ass drummer Adam Balsam, the band kicked it with a sweet, catchy mix of danceable Jimmy Eat World-meets-Radiohead melodies and a genuinely exciting live show in which the entire band swayed and rocked out without the slightest hint of gratuitous posing. One day soon these guys are gonna be big. Seriously".

NOW Magazine (Toronto)

"These Electric Lives seem to have mastered the elusive art of the anthem - almost every song in their set either swelled into a major-key fist-pumper or started out that way straight out of the gate".

Chromewaves (Toronto)

"a set full of twinkling refrains, delay-drenched guitar licks and bubbly electrocardiogram beeps".

Eye Weekly

"Everything about their self-titled EP seems tailor-made for launching the band to stardom, from the stadium-ready choruses, to the big, propulsive riffs, to frontman Mark Stanfield's soaring vocals, to the polished (but not overly slick) production job by João Carvalho...You never want to say that a band is guaranteed to hit it big, but These Electric Lives seem to be as close to a sure thing as you can possibly get".

"Everything about ['We Should Be Believing'] was so grandiose that I couldn't help but being swept away by it, right down to the little drum fills in between the riffs at the start of the song. When TEL conquer the world, this will be the song that leads them in doing it".

"...both 'Keep Love Safe' and 'We Should Be Believing' are worldbeating anthems-in-waiting, the kind of absurdly catchy songs that, if there's any justice in the world whatsoever, will propel TEL to ubiquity".

i (heart) music (Ottawa)

"Overall this EP rocks. These Electric Lives have created a catchy five-song sampler to their upcoming debut album. With this great of an EP, they have set their standard high. A standard so high that when their album comes out in 2008, it will be one of the year's best. They're just that good".

My Crazy Blog (USA)

"The passionate five piece have mastered the art of an indie anthem down to a tee, which hopefully will soon be exploding onto the mainstream".

Unearthed Tresures (UK)

"A Canadian indie-rock band that blew us away with their strong vocals, catchy melodies and danceable beats".

SFist.com (USA)

"It's only a matter of time before the arena-inspired indie rock from their debut EP infiltrates across the border into American popular media".

3hive (USA)

"Showcasing their talents as popular song writers, the five-piece band creates an electro-pop record filled with vocal hooks and danceable riffs".

!earshot (Vancouver)

"It seems like things are starting to blow up for them, and I can see why -- rock music with passionate vocals and catchy melodies. Sounds ripe to bust out to me".

Two Way Monologues (Toronto)

"These Electric Lives enthralled the packed-to-capacity crowd at Soundproof's [Canadian Music Week] Showcase at Sneaky Dee's on Friday March 9th. Showing off their presence at the showcase is only one plateau of success for a band that is working their way towards a greater presence in Toronto and internationally".

Soundproof (Toronto)

"...the audience will have a hard time not breaking out in dance to these rockers that throw a pinch of electro into the mix for good measure".

BlogTO (Toronto)

"...their CMW show was the feel-good show of the week and came as a welcome reprieve from the stuffy indy-shindies elsewhere that night...The five-piece played a great set and the crowd loved it".

Toronto Sun

"Just a great band to see live–their infectuous grooves never fail to get the crowd dancing and singing along".

Gun In Your Hand (Toronto)

"If you see TEL live and you don't dance you better check your pulse...this music is fun!"

About The Music (CIUT Toronto)

"When this quintet forms Voltron-style, they don't slay anime robots, but rather make some incredibly catchy rock music".

Herohill (Halifax/Vancouver)

"They're going to be huge, and they're going to be popular, but they can likely hold onto that indie cred Radiohead-style".

Toonage (Toronto)

"Don't be John Lennon. Be yourself".

   About THESE ELECTRIC LIVES
Toronto's These Electric Lives have been making melodic dance rock since the summer of 2004. After attracting attention early with their homemade Learn By Doing EP, they began working with Juno-nominated producer João Carvalho (at João Carvalho Mastering) and released their critically acclaimed, self-titled debut EP in 2007. The underground hit “We Should Be Believing” has steadily charted on college and internet radio around the world ever since. Their energetic live sets have earned them praise and they have shared the stage with the likes of Mystery Jets (UK), The Boxer Rebellion (UK), Asobi Seksu (NYC), Bang Lime (members of METRIC), Woodhands, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Jimmy Swift Band, Small Sins, The Skydiggers, Bend Sinister and Beast. These Electric Lives released a remix album in 2008 and are currently recording new songs for their first full-length album.
