Prayer, passion and a love to serve Christ with their gift of music is exactly how These Fallen Walls began and to this day those same things are what drive this up and coming Christian Rock band.
During the early winter of 2007, Scotty and Greg began sharing, with each other, what God had laid on their hearts, as individuals. Both believed that their “calling” in life was to play music. Not just any music, but music that would fulfill the second part of that calling. Music that would glorify Jesus Christ, lead others to a saving relationship with Him and address, in a biblical way, many of life’s situations. It wasn’t long before something began to take shape and both realized that what was happening was bigger than they were and that additional band members would be good. This began a time of prayer; prayer that God would provide both band mates and opportunity. This also began a time in which God would reveal Himself to be a glorious provider, as He has not only brought These Fallen Walls together, adding Josh and Kyle, but has continued to bless them with the opportunity they asked for.
God even blessed them with a name. “Before we really even had a bass player, we were asked to play for a fundraiser event, to send a group of guys to Africa. We were told that if we didn’t come up with a name before the deadline, that he’d make one up himself. We didn’t want that, so we got to work.”, says lead singer, Scotty Brown. In trying to define themselves through a name, one common theme began to surface. All 3 members of the band had, at some time, experienced an “us against them” attitude in their respective churches. “The apparent lack of unity within the body, as a whole, was very disheartening to us. So, we came to the conclusion that God was setting us out on a mission of unity.”, says Scotty. He adds, “I was reading my bible one night, after practice, and turned to Ephesians 2:14. It says ‘He himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing walls’. That was it! I realized that Jesus not only broke down the barrier between the Jews and the Gentiles, so we could all share in His salvation, but that the walls between denominations should also come down. So, the name, These Fallen Walls, stands for the walls, within the body of Christ, that have fallen through His perfect work.”
One thing is for sure, These Fallen Walls are tearing down more than the barriers within the church. They are quickly tearing down the walls in an often times difficult profession. With their catchy and biblical lyrics, driving guitars, and engaging live performances, TFW is quickly moving up the musical ladder. In fact, 2009 has seen TFW playing some great venues, like Hills Alive, and their debut EP release, Let Them Fall, has been selling quickly. In addition, 2010 looks to be a stellar year for 4 guys from a small Wyoming town, with a gift and a passion.
Be sure to catch These Fallen Walls in concert or contact them if you’d like to see them at a church or event near you.
