These Horses make performance for a variety of sites and contexts: studio, theatre, gallery, car park, beach. We work in the UK and Germany.
Our current explorations involve dancing, live music, photography and drums – questioning our expectations of ‘liveness’ through improvisation, accident and loud noise.
We aim to make performances that are accessible, immediate and unexpected; temporary comings-together of people, circumstances and ideas.
Recent work includes The Rhythm of the Night series at Permanent Gallery, Brighton - six performances made in two weeks, in the shape of a song; and Take it Home a new studio work made at Sophiensaele, Berlin, in the shape of a dance.
February is the month of love. But at Elevator we will putting on a show exploring the darker side of love, with the theme of Anti-Valentine.
We want artists to explore, break ups, divorce, forbidden love, revenge, stalkers, unrequited love, S.T.D.s, rows, broken hearts, bunny boiling, hero worship gone wrong, ex lovers, unmaterialised crushes, holiday romances, infatuation, jelousy, sycophantic, love fights, dumping, phillandery, dogging, promiscuity, fake marriages, arranged marriages, narcissism and beyond.......
It would be good to see larger works in the space but we will consider everything, all mediums including performance.
We have very little time on this so please send images of work and proposals asap. We will notify sucessful artists only via e-mail by the 3rd of January, 2008.
