The Shades are five Central Texas musicians who play vintage rock like it was meant to be played - with authentic rawness, grit, groove, but above all, reverence. First formed in the early 1980s, the band has reunited after 23 years and is steadily gaining momentum throughout Temple, Austin, Killeen and surrounding areas -- winning the hearts of young and old alike with their unique talent for turning old into gold.
Band members include: Dennis Hardwick, Ricky Matthews and James Mueck on guitar and vocals; Bo Cryer on bass and drummer, Bruce Bray, with Steve Kleypas running sound for the band. The band has recently added Paul Brown on sax and vocals. Regular guest artists or "clip-ons" for The Shades include: Karen Bray, flute and Ashley Bray, occasional bagpipes!
