About The Shape of the Earth [is Recording!]

Singer/Songwriter Gavin Bascom self-released his debut EP "They Would at Least Stay Busy" under the monochre "The Shape Of The Earth" in the summer of 2008 to critical acclaim and enthusiasm Bascom had garnered through playing on various projects and a strong online presence. The introspective and fiercely personal set of songs became considered "soundtrack potential gold," and was noticed by Lisa Donovan of Zappin productions who featured the final song "Epilogue" in a video written for YouTube's YTLive event in fall of 2008. The video garnered over 650,000 plays in a matter of months, landing this debut EP in the top 100 sold albums on iTunes, a feat few debut songwriters rarely achieve. Bascom has since added a full lineup to the project and the group plans to self-release their debut LP in just a few months. Bascom says the upcoming album is a "natural progression" from his intimate bedroom style to a more fully rounded out style, while maintaining the personality and intimacy of his poignant lyrics.
