The Sheila Divine was a Boston based rock group from 1997 to 2003. The band took its name from the Australian term "sheila", which denotes an effeminate man or wimp - thus making them in a literal sense, the sacred wimps. Critics compared their sound to the band's own heroes, mainly early 1980s post-punk. The band was most often noted for it's loud/soft musical dynamic and Aaron Perrino's soaring vocals, screaming in key one moment and howling a falsetto the next. The band had a large die hard fan base in what was often called "the three Bs": Boston, Buffalo, and Belgium.
Though the band has since parted ways, some members have moved on to new projects in the Boston area.
Singer/songwriter Aaron Perrino's current band, Dear Leader, is based out of Boston.
Bass guitarist Jim Gilbert plays in the new Boston based band, The Plain Janes.
Drummer Ryan Dolan now plays with Portland, Maine band Hiss and Chambers,

Hey there, fans of The Sheila Divine and Dear Leader! I'm finally getting around to uploading some of Aaron Perrino's old solo acoustic shows. You're all invited to give them a listen on-line or download to your heart's content. There's some really fun stuff in there that I'd completely forgotten about. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Rock!
when is this years sheial divine reuinion? come on dont leave us PLEASE come back at least for reuinion shows PLEASE???? my wife and i made a trip and a get away out of last years it was the best thing we did in a long time!
Since the Dear Leader site has expired (for now, at least), I've put up a messageboard for The Sheila Divine Archive to serve as a meeting place for all of "the regulars" (plus any new faces) who might want to stop by.
Everyone will have to register, since it's not related to the old site, but with any luck maybe we can keep the community we created before alive and well.
