The Ship is a recording studio located in Eagle Rock, a neighborhood near Silverlake on the east side of Los Angeles CA. It is owned and operated by Aaron Espinoza of the band Earlimart and has been in operation since 2000.
The Ship studio contains a hybrid of both analog and digital mediums, including an mci 16 trk 2" tape machine and a 24 i/o Pro Tools HD3 system. We have a variety of tube and solid state mic pre's. many different compressors, vintage eq, tape delays, spring reverbs and echoes, a great selection of vintage, modern, and weird microphones.. from ribbons to tube to what the hell is that? And a huge selection of drums, guitars, amps, keys, synths, pedals, etc.. The studio has one large control room, one large live room, one small live room, an iso booth, outdoor tiki lounge and one bathroom. In just the last year, the Ship has recorded artists such as She &Him, Jay Farrar, Ben Gibbard, Henry Clay People, Earlimart, Flosstradamus with Caroline of Chairlift, LANDy, Rademacher, Le Switch, UNI, Port O’Brien, Wait Think Fast, The Flying Tourbillion Orchestra, Ovideo, The Meeting Places, and Tim Williams (just to name a few!)
