Beh e' difficile non somigliare a nessuno in questo genere quindi, amici, e' meglio che lo diciate voi se e a chi somigliamo.
Well it's difficult not to be similar to some other band in this very kind of music, so, in case, to name it it's up to you, friends.
The Shire Band came up from the common passion of its members for traditional Irish music, its pourpoes is to spread the knowledge of this kind of music, going from the production of historical groups to the more recent celtic
survey. The Shire's repertoire is made up of jigs, reel, polkas, hornpipes, airs and songs, going from more infectious moments to those more solemn and intimate. Most of the care is given to technical aspect, style, arrangements and tunes research.
The Shire band use the classical instruments of the Irish tradition: fiddle, flute, whistle, uillean pipe, harp and the "most recent addition to traditional Irish music", the guitar. A tipical show is varoius and fits very well in ballrooms and chambers situations as well.
Our is not an vapid imitation with the sole pourpose, sometimes typical in
many non-native-irish bands (unfortunately especially here in Italy) of "challenge the Irish"; instead our approach is to pay a humble tribute to a wonderful, evocative, and pretty much "rockish" music. We believe that, with its syncopated rythm and catchy melodies, it gave a very big influence to modern popular and rock music, so beside enjoyning it a lot we honorate it spreading it the best we can.
Negli anni 50 J.R.R. Tolkien descriveva The Shire (La Contea) come una terra abitata da piccoli uomini dediti al buon cibo, al buon bere e a feste che spesso duravano giorni, amanti della tranquillità e della pace ma, se necessario, così caparbi da lottare e liberare un intero mondo dal male.
Questa è l’atmosfera che un po’ abbiamo ritrovato in Irlanda, dove tra balli, musica, canzoni e tante risate troviamo un popolo che ha combattuto tutte le guerre possibili in nome della libertà.
La musica in particolare ci ha letteralmente rapito, così piena di ritmo e sentimento, semplice e allo stesso tempo difficile sia nella comprensione sia nell'esecuzione, espressione di un flusso interminabile di gioia, convivialità e amicizia; ognuno di noi a suo modo vi trova un pò di se stesso: cultura, rock, danza e colori (...e alcool... tanto).
Questo lavoro rappresenta per noi un omaggio e un, seppur umile, ringraziamento alla Terra di Erìu e ai suoi abitanti.
Come ha divertito noi inciderlo in un orribilmente afoso e innaturale (...per l'Irlanda!) pomeriggio di Luglio, speriamo che diverta, incuriosisca e catturi anche voi.
