The ShowGears Are:
Leroy Bell - Bass, Vocals
Zach "Mighty Prophet" Cornfield - Guitar, Backup Vox.
Carl Julig - Drums
The three members of The ShowGears met when they jammed with a mutual friend in August of 2006. With Leroy Bell on bass, Zach Cornfield on guitar, and Carl Julig on drums they decided to form a reggae-pop trio with a unique sound for the downtown east-side.
They first played at the Anza Club's Thursday night open mic performing as "The Desperate Straightguys", where they made a notably lasting impression. They have since played with Vancouver-based acts such as "Hey! Ocean", "Tri-Force Omega", "The Kitchen", "Miami Device" and others in venues all around town. In May of 2007 The Showgears recorded a six-track demo showcasing their very first musical excursions, which they began handing out at shows.
On the 17th of October the band released their first album "Life Looks Good" which features 10 originals, 3 of which were rerecorded from the EP. Dressed as the legendary Spinal Tap, the band performed at the Media Club to a sold out audience. Leroy's cunningly crafted songs, combined with Zach's heavenly licks and Carl's devastatingly precise percussion skills, create the perfect mix of talent and artistic flair, proving that the ShowGears might just be the coolest sound this side of Vancouver.
