The Showgoats were born in june of 1998. Practicing in downtown Charlotte, N.C. in an old building above a fish market, four friends started what would become all these years later Charlottes best kept rock and roll secret.
For months that first summer the goats jamed to songs we knew from our previous bands. Songs by REM, Big Star, and The beatles, vibrated through the walls. In the hot, smelly air of our first practice space we hammered out our sound . In late august we decided it was time to start writing. The songs came along steadily. By the fall of the next year we had enough material to put our first album together. We contacted Jamie Hoover of The Spongetones in the spring of 2000 and with his help recorded "Catfish Saturday" (see reviews).
Since 1998 The Showgoats line up has had some changes. We have had great times
with and miss our friends who no longer play with us.
Eight years have passed since the first album. The Showgoats have been working hard, playing out and writing new songs. We hope the New album "Lift Off" is worth the wait. We are proud of our latest effort, and promise not to let as much time pass before our next album.
The Showgoats sound has been compared to many artists ranging from country and
southern rock, to REM. Comparisons aside, the muisic stands on its own. The Showgoat sound will reach out, grab your ears, and rock your face off!! Enjoy!
On the mountains of truth you can never climb in vain: either you will
reach a point higher up today, or you will be training your powers so
that you will be able to climb higher tomorrow.
Four more little sonic gems for your August pleasure are now available on the site. Blitzen Trapper, Boulder Acoustic Society, Jay Brannan and The Wiyos. Yet another fine quartet even though we say so ourselves as picked them out.

This app is seriously awesome, but it would be way more fun if you joined my Hot List and we could play together. What are you waiting for? Do it Now!
