I like almost any music produced by people who have a decent amount of singing/songwriting talent, which basically means anything except rap. Oh yeah, and the Christian music scene of the past few years by and large stinks too. But beyond those, I like just about anything.
Movies
I don't have time to watch a lot of movies, but I enjoy a good one every now and then. Braveheart and the LOTR trilogy, those are the best movies ever made. Period.
I also enjoy a lot animated films, yeah I know they're for kids, but I love them anyway. They're funny. Veggietales, The Incredibles, Shrek, The Emperor's New Groove, and Sinbad, to name a few.
I'm not a big fan of comedy, but I've seen a few good ones in that genre. My fav is See Spot Run.
I've also enjoyed Flags of our Fathers, Ladder 49, The Guardian, Hotel Rwanda, and Star Wars, among others.
Books
I try to read the Bible every day, but I honestly don't if it's my favorite book or not. There's a lot in there, but I constantly struggle with it getting old, like I've read it or heard it a zillion times before.
Blue Like Jazz changed my life. It changed my whole outlook on what it meant to be a follower of Christ. I could say more, but not here.
The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, God's Gift to Women, Wild at Heart, and No Compromise, very much enjoyed those too.
I guess what I like in a book is more than just a good story, I have to be able to get something out of it, to actually benefit by having read it, in order to really enjoy it.
About me: You want to know about me? Ah, where to begin. My name is Matt Smucker, in case you hadn't already figured that out. I am unique. I am eccentric. I can be incredibly blunt, if the situation calls for it. Just get right to the point, I always say, although I usually try to be diplomatic about it. I am a Christian. I enjoy hunting nutrias. I tend to stay up fairly late, usually until about 1-1:30am. I'm currently going to Oregon State University, and I'm hoping hoping HOPING to graduate in 2009. Politically I am not a Republican or a Democrat. I stand with either party, depending on the issue. Gay marriage? Definitely a Republican. Iraq? I'm more of a Democrat. Etc. I've dreamed of going into space ever since I was about 9, but it remains to be seen if I'll get there. And it is now 2:23am, so I should go to bed.

Who I'd like to meet: Lots of people. I'd love to meet Ms. Right or Princess Charming or whatever you call her. There's people from the Bible that I wish I could meet, especially David and the Apostle Paul. I also wish I could meet that lady from the Old Testament who killed Sisera the enemy Syrian general by driving a tent peg through his head. :-D I would like to meet Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, the first two men on the moon. I would also like to meet somebody who everyone thinks is completely evil, maybe someone like Osama Bin Laden, just to see what people like that are like in person.

i want you to come to pierres game on saturday night. they just beat SA in the first playoff game and it was scary. we went into overtime and there was three seconds left on the clock and we were down by one and daniel layed it in. i dont think i have ever seen the student section empty so fast onto the court to circle the players. they are playing kennedy on saturday
maybe next, huh? you could stop out at newporton sarurday and hang with me and my friend titus. we are crabing from friday until sunday morning. prob not on sunday but we are sleepin there saturday night prob. call me if you want to. later

well saturday night was our chrismas youth group. now it is over. it would be fun to hang out sometime again. get a coffee maybe and walk to walmart. huh huh? sound like a plan?
