"Some really good bands are coming out of Cork at the moment and Silo are destined to be one of those who go national."
www.redtrackmusic.com (Mar '09)
"Silo are very good at what they do – it is loud, it is pumping and it is full, oh so full of angst ... their popularity is more than justified"
www.redtrackmusic.com (Oct '08)
"It's punky, it's raw, it's honest, it's not complicated. I love it to bits."
Cormac Battle on "Unlucky for Some", 2fm (Feb '09)
"... full of energy and attitude"
Jackie Hayden, Hot Press (Dec '08)
"... if they'd been around [Seattle] in the mid-'90s, Sub-Pop would've signed them in a heartbeat. Tight and turbulent, 'Unlucky for Some' has a dark, angsty, throw-yourself-around-the-room energy."
Olaf Tyaransen, Hot Press (Jan '09)
"...I'm glad this band was brought to my attention. They are the best Irish band I have heard since I laid ears on Berkeley a few years ago, who coincidentally share a similar '90s post-indie rock sound as Silo. Just because you don't live in Ireland, that is no excuse not to support this band."

Silo are a four-piece rock band from Cork, Ireland. Since being formed in 2001 by Philip Murphy and Eoin Ryan, with the later addition of brothers Shane and Cian O'Leary, the band has developed into one of Cork’s premier original acts.
An early demo saw the band being picked for the National Student Music Awards in 2008. Later in 2008 the band recorded and released their debut single "Unlucky for Some" to a vibrant reaction from the Cork music scene and 2009 will see the band build on this success throughout the rest of the country.
The band were "Pick of the Fortnight" in Jackie Hayden’s First Cuts column in Hot Press for the same single which led to it receiving regular airplay on many Irish radio stations, both local and national. The single also received an extremely positive review in the following issue of the magazine.
Silo recorded a live session for Cormac Battle's 2fm show in early 2009, showcasing some brand new material which will be featured on their upcoming debut album. Work on said album is heavily underway and the band is booked in to begin recording in July 2009.

The Chickenfoot gig was fun, people actually paid attension which is nice! The drummer that did that gig with me is playing next Thursday. The marquee was his first time playing with a sound engineer, he had his first gig last February. He's an old friend with bucket loads of talent and its fun playing with him...think there's a vid on youtube of the gig actually.
hey guys, I'm doing a gig in the Pavillion next Thursday 23 July. I'll be bringing along a drummer, ditching the backing tracks and cranking things up, so it should be fun. I'll be doing half a set of new stuff too.
Hope you can make it/make someone else make it!!!
Hows life otherwise...

Cool, sounds like a plan, to be honest its good to hear of someone traveling a bit to record, it helps keeping things fresh in Cork I guess. It sounds like a great setup. If I remember correctly they've a good system of rooms there to track stuff at the same time in isolation while maintaining visual contact through glass. The fighting with wire stuff is cool alright, funnily enough I tend not to listen to much guitar driven music like my own stuff/fighting with wire kind of sound these days, bar 2 or 3 favourites...so I never would have picked up their album. Saw them live once and they blew the place away alright. So are you aiming to get the album out to people September/Octoberish??
haha, definitely not lack of sleep, I'm fairly well looking forward to that album whenever its coming from you guys!
Am, can't say I've any gigs in Cork soon. I've actually got one in Fred's of all places on July 11th, which is the nexdt Cork one, I'm probably going to just play acoustic shows around the place and stuff during June, now that the college year is over I'm going to get down to finishing an album and mixing it myself this time as I'll have the time to do it. Obviously if any class gig oppertunities come up in Cork I'll do them during June, but otherwise I think I'll take it off.
It's 6.39 in the morning and I just finished listening to all your tracks on your myspace player....and I'll be repeating....just said I'd admit it in public!!!!
p.s. No alcohol was consumed for 7 days prior to this message being posted..they're just dam good songs!!
