The Silver Abduction is a new project from vocalist Allison Brice (The
Eighteenth Day of May) and composer / producer / all around pop-svengali
Andy Dragazis (Blue States), who first began writing together
in 2005, when Andy was producing the EDOM's debut album. Upon completion of Blue States’ fourth release, “First Steps Into…” and the
dissolution of the May in 2007, Andy and Allison both found
themselves free to devote more time to their
collaboration, and returned to his Whitechapel studio for new sessions.
Taking their inspiration from varied sources, The Silver Abduction's work is haunting transmission from a lost
world of faded glamour, shadowy intrigues and secret loves.
The current song cycle revolves around the mysterious disappearance of torch singer Cecille Devrie, who vanished at Castle Rock in the Vale of St. John, Cumberland, in 1959. The songs portray fragmentary glimpses into Cecille's final days, haunted memories and troubled internal world.
The Silver Abduction's music enjoys a slightly otherworldly 1950’s feel, but with an entirely modern expression. Using his
multi-instrumental talents, Andy blends Guitars, Bass, Fender
Rhodes, Bouzuki, Dulcimers, Trinidad Steeldrum, Hammond Organ, Vox
Continental, and whatever else catches his fancy. These lush arrangements
perfectly compliment Allison’s mesmeric vocals, and the result is an entirely unique sound, rich and enchanting.
Also featured are contributions from drummer Philip Jenkins
(Broadcast, The Loves), and bassist Andy Jones (Kicker, The Welfare State)
who has recently begun to participate in the project’s fledgling live group.
The Silver Abduction is currently working on an album, and they hope to
schedule some performances in London for later this year.
See you guys soon! Funny, today I feel really very gleeful about this whole damn thing... xxx
