For the past five years, Peterborough?s The Silver Hearts have
drawn comparisons as unique as their music. With a membership ranging from 12-17, and instrumentation consisting of the standard drums, bass, guitar, piano and the more obtuse, sousaphone, theramin, trombone, trumpet, harmonicas, and accordion, The Silver Hearts have established their own blend of burlesque swing, southern gospel, pre-war blues, field hollers: Exciting music, rooted in tradition.
In the summer of 2005 The Silver Hearts were just waking up from a
well-deserved nap. They?d given up the punishing touring schedule of
previous years for family life or a paying job. They?d even walked away from the weekly gig at Peterborough?s historic Montreal House where they?d cut and re-cut their teeth every Wednesday for five years.
What drew them back together was when Banbury Park Records presented the opportunity to play a one-night ?specialty show? in Toronto where The
Silver Hearts would team up with Deadly Snakes vocalist & guitarist, Andre
Ethier. The inspiration for the show came from the synergy displayed by
Bob Dylan & The Band. The blueprint was their historic "Before The Flood"
live album.
Even though Andre was a stranger to most of the Hearts, his energy and his courage immediately gelled with the band, and inspired people who thought they?d given their all a few times over to give?er all over again. The
Silver Hearts estranged as they had been from themselves and each other,
revelled in the chance to work on a project together again. The time away
from the band had allowed people to stretch, and people came to the rehearsals
with new songs that, like the best of the old ones, were unfamiliar and yet
immediately memorable and loveable.
They sounded not quite like Silver Hearts songs - until they played them.
The songs pushed the band in new directions, forcing the band to rely less on sounds and more on feel. Andre?s fierce commitment to making music was contagious, and tended to infect all the songs that were put to tape,
drawing out performances that, like Andre?s vocals, always ran dangerously close to falling apart. The result of all that is right here: Dear Stranger.
Ground shattering 1st release on Doppelganger Records by Galaxian. 7 tracks of sublime electro inspiration. Dark atmospherics, menacing basslines and creeping grooves combine to make this a future classic.

Just giving you the heads up that we're playing on Saturday, Nov. 3rd at The Montreal House. It'll be a bit of a homecoming for us since we've tirelessly been playing Toronto lately.
We're hoping alot of local folks will be coming out to see what all the fuss is about. All the show information will be available on our profile page.
In case you feel like a night out for malty beverages and of course some Rock and Roll, we're playing the Mod Club on Saturday the 20th (Depending if you're in the GTA that night or not)
If you think you might be able to make it send me a message and I'll put you on the guest list.
