Some of our influences, in alphabetical order: Alan Parson’s Project, Arena, Ayreon, Cat Stevens, Dream Theater, Fish, Genesis, IQ, Iron Maiden, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Marillion, Metallica, Mike Oldfield, Nik Kershaw, Paul Simon, Pendragon, Peter Gabriel, Porcupine Tree, Queen, Rush, Toto, Wolfstone... And many more!
After many changes in the lineup and in the direction of the band, the first true formation came up in 1993. After all these years (still crazy), the Silver Key come back to the stage in May 2006 with a new lineup. We focus on the first Marillion era, with singer Derek W. Dick, AKA Fish and we concentrate on the songs in the following albums: "Script for a Jester's Tear", "Fugazi", "Misplaced Childhood", "Clutching at Straws", "B'Sides Themselves", "Vigil in a Wilderness of Mirrors" and "Internal Exile".
Something about us
Yuri Abietti - The not-so-towering lead vocalist of the band with a real fascination with Fish lyrics and songs likes to paint his face like "the true proggers" and dresses like someone who needs to make his coming-out real soon, but he's not. Actually he likes girl, maybe even too much. He loves martial arts, music, movies, eating, drinking (especially Islay whiskey and Guinness), jumping on the bed, taking stupid pictures of himself and his many sociopatic friends and, of course, playing and singing. He's the heart of the band. He knows a bit about acoustic guitars (just a bit, I told ya) and percussions.
Paolo Magistris - The lead guitarist of the band loves old Steinberger guitars (he owns two of them) and he's a nice cook. He's got twenty-or-so years of scouting experience, loves big parties with a lot of people and beers, hiking, making girls go crazy with his charm (especially when he plays) and such. Did I already mention the beers? He likes whiskey too and he's got always some nice and rare bottle of Irish or Scotch when he invites you to dinner or just to watch a DVD or to play a couple of songs at his place. He's the real heart of the band.
Marco Dominioni - AKA Domingo, AKA "the grandpa", AKA "rat-nonno", AKA AKA. You know you don't want to mess with this guy when you see him around. He's mean, nasty and very heavy metallic in the inside. He agreed to play with us only to make us a favour and we're really glad that he did it. He's the real heart of the band, honest. He loves making little aircraft models (especially if they're armed with tactical nuclear weapons) and drives like nuts. When he plays his bass you can actually detect him just looking at the prints of the nearer sysmographic station. We love him, and that's all.
Davide Manara - If there is a real gentleman (excuse me) in the band, that must be him. He's always very polite and gentle and kind and charming, et cetera. That is, 'til he gets his fingers on the keyboard. Then the fucking gates of hell get loose. He's the true heart of the band, sincerely. He's got three keyboards at this moment, but Yuri has tried for months to convince him to buy a new Hammond B3P. We'll let you know when he succeed in this difficult task. Except for Viviano, Davide has the more difficult time during the gigs. Guys, we really badly need some roadies...
Viviano Crimella - AKA Vivio, AKA Viviolas (for his skill with a bow), AKA the fucking sledgehammer, AKA "He Who Beats Like a Bloody Blacksmith". He's not the triangle player, as you might have guessed. He practice the ancient martial art of italian fencing, so if you want to insult him, prepare yourself for a duel at dawn in the "Rob Roy" way (and he's not the gay with the rapier). He's really the true, pulsing heart of the band. He's got a drum set in african bubinga that he's very proud of, whatever that may be.
Why "Silver Key"
Have you ever heard of an obscure american horror writer called Howard Phillips Lovecraft? Well, get a collection of his works and read "The Silver Key" and "Through the Gates of the Silver Key". If that doesn't answer your question, er... Keep reading!
GIVE PEACE A CHANCE is not just an outdated catch phrase!! It's still as important as when it was first written!!
We can still all do this.....and if you want to be part of the solution...
...then do consider adding my new song, "Think Peace" to your profile. It's easy to do, just go to my profile and right under the song title on the player is a place to choose "ADD".
The more that this song gets heard, the more that people will stop for a moment, interrupt their routine, and think about peace. If people do this, even just for a moment, there is an effect! So, YOU can be part of the solution....
And if you do add the song to your profile, PLEASE be sure to let me know so I can drop you a note and thank you personally! ;)
Think Peace! Sing Peace! BE peace! Much Love, Andrew

Ciao!
No? Strano.
Vi interessa sapere come?
Let there be rock, forever! E come sempre, slainthè. :)
