The Silver Tree Club is a legendary drinking den long gone in the social fabric that once gave sanctuary to the midnight men and women of Chapeltown. The myth of the place grows year on year, some say they remember it but were too wholesome to set foot in it, others have the scares to back up there tales from behind its doors, my fondest memory of it is listening in a drunken dawns haze to an 80 year old jamaican guy djing old ska records just for me and telling me what a fuck up i was...young man like you...he kept saying... just the 2 of us and the sleeping landlady, this went on for hours...he wore a sharp suit and drank dark rum by the pint in an old tumbler...happy days...he just wanted someone to berate and listen to his records and his tales...i was all ears...
