Formed in 1990 in the suburbs of Washington, DC by Killing Joke enthusiasts spurred on by the 1989 US tour of said band. Many line up changes, many gigs with acts such as Merkin Records' The Pearlfishers & long forgotten names like Dicksister at venues like 15 Minutes Club (DC - R.I.P.) & Cafe Tattoo (Baltimore) & one 7" on DSI in 1993 produced by former Tesco Vee's Hate Police bassist Scotty Thorson. New stable line up drafted in at the end of 1996 do another round of gigs alongside bands like 5-8 (Athens, GA) & Godhead (Priority Records) at venues like NATION (DC) & The Otto Bar (Baltimore). This line up fizzles after 2 years having recorded for tributes to Poison Idea & The Stranglers. An alumni version does a 1999 gig with Ghoti Hook to nobody at the Velvet Lounge then reconvenes for The Associates tribute a few years later & last rears it's head for an unreleased version of a Chameleons UK song in Winter, 2003. Lots of unreleased sessions wait in limbo, look for a CD or 2 coming eventually anthologizing these currently in the can tunes. Finally, expect another round of performances very very soon.
"DJ Monkey …soul-stirring, excitingly edgy music…just disturbing (read ‘mind-f**king’) enough to demand attention. There is a whole spice rack of auditory flavors here, served up like fractured poetry on a collection of intensely listenable Hallmark cards from Hell." Bill Margold, Cinema Seen, L.A. X..Press
