   About The Sivs
The Sivs, a four piece alternative rock outfit based in Michigan, entered the studio in December of 2008 under the guidance of producer Brian Zieske to record their debut EP “Derelict Diner.” The songs, composed by the ensemble, all have a distinct hook, huge dynamics and memorable lyrics that anyone can relate to. Zieske was meticulous in helping the band create landscapes of sound that clearly capture the bands musical and emotional vision. The songs range from the anthemic “Chasing the Sun” to the hard rock riffs of “The Punk and the Prom Queen” to the infectious ballad “Favorite.” The EP clearly captures a musical range that provides something for everyone while remaining focused and true to The Siv’s distinctive sound. The Sivs are Vincent DeVito (lead guitar), Todd Herring (lead vocal, guitar), Christopher Morse (Drums) and Peter Fox (Bass, Vocals). David Zeyl recorded bass on the EP, and was a significant contributor to the writing of the album. Sounds like: Muse, The Verve REVIEW BY JOHN SINKEVICS GRAND RAPIDS PRESS Powerful. Dark. A British-retro feel. I guess I have to say at first blush that The Sivs are one of the most unique-sounding outfits to ever come out of Grand Rapids. Perhaps it's the years of performing Celtic rock that's given your singing a distinctive tone (and maybe even an accent) that distinguishes it from other rock bands around here and adds a certain textural potency. I'm particularly drawn to "Breaking at the Seams" and "The Punk and the Prom Queen" and their melodic/rock charms, but the other material is also passionate and commanding.
