The Six are a Melbourne based comedy performance and production company – run by Mandy Mannion & Kate McLennan - with artistic design by Joshua Cameron.
The Six are very proudly producing
Le Garcon Neurotique
Starring and written by Joshua Cameron for the 2007 Melbourne Fringe Festival.
“Le Garçon Neurotique”
A dark and hilariously twisted journey into
the mind of a cocktail waiter, teetering on
the edge of madness! Concocted together
with a stirring insight into the elegant but depraved heaven of world class
alcoholism. Luscious beverages sold throughout performance at the
prestigious Order of Melbourne rooftop!
A maniacal monologue set in a cocktail bar about a waiter out of his depth
and out of his mind. The hell that he thinks is imposed on him by the world
around him is, in fact, created by his own cynical neurosis.
Overall the situations he creates for himself are comical in nature and play
on the irony that tragedy, from the audience perspective, can be twisted into
a whirl of hilarity. Through his pessimistic rants he stumbles finally into a shocking moment
of realization.
Performed and written by Joshua Cameron, based on his own personal experience as a
cocktail waiter. Skillfully directed by the artful hand of local directing guru Peta Hanrahan.
Joshua Cameron has been working solidly since his graduation from BAPA, performing,
producing and directing Shakespeare including the recent production of “A Midsummer
Nights Dream” at Como House, performing in many theatre productions at La Mama
including “The Jaundice Table" directed by Peta Hanrahan, performing and producing many
comedy shows with The Six (of which he is one of the founding members) and appearing in
many short films and one award winning feature film “Five moments of Infidelity” Directed
by Kate Gorman.

In other Six news, Kate McLennan has just returned from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where she performed her one-woman show “The Debutante Diaries” to great success at the Gilded Balloon. Blackbird Productions now take over producing this show with seasons planned for regional Victoria in 2008 and a national tour in 2009. See Kate's myspace for details of future tours.
Previous seasons have included the Melbourne International Comedy Festival where the show was nominated for a Barry Award for Best Show. This follows a critically acclaimed season in the Garden of Unearthly Delights for the Adelaide Fringe which was nominated for a Best Comedy Award in the SA Theatre Guide Curtain Call Awards. The Debutante Dairies also took out the award for Best Comedy and the Melbourne Airport Emerging Artist Award in the 2006 Melbourne Fringe.
The Six will presented a very special one-off “Wrong Night” at Trades Hall as part of the Saturday night Trade Aid series, raising funds for ‘depressioNet’ an on-line depression support service. The Wrong Night wonderfully daring performances from Wes Snelling as Tina del Twiste, Sammy J and Randy, Geraldine Quinn, Elbowskin, Dave Thornton and Die Roten Punkte.
This one-off Wrong Night follows a packed out performance at the Famous Spiegeltent as part of the Melbourne International Festival and a hugely successful late-night run for the 2006 Comedy Festival. The Wrong Night features clean-cut comedians being naughty, naughty comedians being naughtier; it’s where comedic dares and fantasies are realised. Guest comedians so far include: Glenn Wool (Can), Tim Minchin, Charlie Pickering, Eddie Perfect, Gatesy (Tripod), & Jesse Griffin (4 Noels), Mike McLeish, and Casey Bennetto (Drowsy Drivers), Wes Snelling, Sammy J, Sam Simmons, Geraldine Quinn, Cal Wilson, Damian Callinan, Lawrence Mooney, Die Roten Punkte, Cliffy, My Brother and I Are Pornstars, Jo Randerson, Dai Henwood, Richard McKenzie, Adam Richards…of course The Six and much much more. You’ll never know who will pop up at “The Wrong Night”!
