SDZ AKA THE SKADADDYZ - 'Rude Boyz'
There are bands that don't need a whole lot of explanation. The facts are self-explanatory! Just some key-facts will serve the purpose: SDZ are from Ventura, California. Ventura is north of L.A. and in between Santa Barbara and Santa Monica. Their very athletic lead-singer and baritone saxophone-player Jesse has quite an appetite for energy!!!!!!!!!
Founded in 1993 the "old farts" have gained quite a reputation overseas. They've shared stages with the likes BIG BAD VOODOO DADDY, THE SPECIALS, NO DOUBT and SAVE FERRIS all over the west-coast. Of course they also played the Ska-Summit 2003 in Las Vegas, where they joined acts like THE MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES and MADNESS. Their unique cover of "Hotel California" was downloaded over one Million times (!) at mp3.com and was number one of the Ska-Charts for several months - consumer sovereignty can be so much fun! Often compared to SUBLIME the SKADADDYZ describe their music more like this: "Skalternative, a new blend of Ska, Funk, Rasta, and Punk presented with extreme energy, best describes the sound of the SKADADDYZ."
That Power-Ska-Sound is exactly what's on their self-produced (!) album "Rude Boyz": fast raw Ska with a punk edge takes turns with some a bit more groovy passages. They also get very emotional - but always straight forward. 12 irresistible, strong hits - don't even try to resist! After this masterpiece almost got lost in the fishing nets of the music-biz it's finally available in Europe. Guess where? On ÜBERSEE RECORDS of course!
