Over the space of twelve months, without management or label backing. The Skagz have played venues across the UK, Recorded a thirteen-track cd and have developed a large fan base around the UK and abroad. Being entered into the BBC’s search for the Worlds best unsigned young band The Skagz finished 7th place out of 60,000 bands and made a good friend in ex-libertines and dirty pretty things drummer Gary Powell who said “A great band with potential to make it, they have something I haven’t seen in a while for a young band, They will be the big band of the future”.
After publicity on BBC Look North, they were invited to film a professional music video produced by the BBC's Marco Van Belle for the track “Whitwell”.
Other local acollades include an award from the town mill venue in Mansfield for “Best band to ever play Mansfield”. Another local award was from The Pitched Awards in Retford for “The band with the most promising future”.
