Peace, Love, Respect!
Many of us hail from the land of Downers Grove, but we're all at UIUC right now. Two of our number were in a ska band in high school known as "Fast Eddy's Bowling Academy," but from the rubble of the Academy has risen a new ska-force the likes of which has never been seen before........the Skalalitabs!
The name: Matt had an idea to make a pun with the word ska and the Arabic term used in the Qur'an to refer to followers of the other Abrahamic faiths -- "ahla al-kitaab," or "People of the Book," since our band includes all three. We would then be "Skahla al-kitaab." Since no one else could pronounce it, we decided on a rather comical, anglicized version of the word that reminds us of candy: ("ska-LA-lee-tabs").
