  • Bio

The Skinnyz play straight up, seventies power-pop rock and roll, taking an up all night, foot stomping, ever living, never stopping, booze fueled approach to making music. .. .. Songwriter Mike Slavin (guitar, vocals, synth), Scott DeWitt (bass), and Dan Canty (drums), met in the music program at the University of Oregon in 2004 and started The Skinnyz in 2007. In January of 2008, The Skinnyz recorded and self-released their debut album, UP!, a strident rock and roll recored with classic rock and blues influences bleeding all over the recording. UP! exemplifies The Skinnyz ability to return to rock's roots and to graft themselves in as a band that sounds as if they have been playing rock music their whole lives. .. .. Slavin's songwriting, raspy voice and "get up!" lyrics, coupled with the band's unadulterated approach to making music give the band pop appeal without sacrificing their rock and roll edge. .. .. In April of 2008 The Skinnyz signed with Portland record label, Bladen County Records and are now back in the studio recording their sophmore album to be released in late 2008. .. .. It's just rock n' roll. .. Mercy on us all. .. .. ..

  • POTLATCH PRESENTS

    TUESDAY 8/11/09:
MARK TWAIN INDIANS, THE VALLEY ARENA, OH CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN

“[SMART ROCK] Don’t let the riffage scare you. The Valley Arena’s new disc, We Died, finds the SoCal crew engaging in hard rock as smart as it is heavy: Tricky post-hardcore guitar licks are there to buoy cleverly jingoistic turns of phrase. Fans of bass-heavy ‘90s indie rock like Jawbox and Seaweed ought to dig the group’s smartly aggressive aesthetic, which grows in spurts with each release. And you thought nobody was making worthwhile rock ’n’ roll anymore. Psshh.” - CASEY JARMAN, The Willamette Week

    FRIDAY 8/15/09:

SUBARACHNOID SPACE (CD RELEASE) w/ THRONES, RABBITS, PALO VERDE, & FIST FITE
