ok fine, well here's what the other people said:

"... grazing guitars sat comfortably between moments of serene melodies"

"Ucl's own and one of the finest. It is clear their influences lie in the indie-rock of Sonic Youth, Broken Social Scene and Pj Harvey, but the trained ear will also notice that quite subtly they integrate shoegaze and jazz elements. Local heroes in the underground of Cambridge, live they manage to be simultaneously warm and cold, rocking hard or poping softly. Not to be missed!"
~ UCL Live Music Soc

"There's something naggingly mid-90s about Cambridge's The Sleep Wells. We don't necessarily mean Britpop and its attendant ills, more the sophisticated female-fronted power indiepop of a Salad or Mambo Taxi (dare we add Sleeper? They were much loved when they first emerged), and latterly the Land Of Talk type. The band themselves describe their sound as "somewhere between Radiohead and Jeff Buckley", but then bands have a tendency of hearing something different to everyone else. What it is is something which lulls the listener in broodingly and has much raw potential."

"Who are The Sleep Wells? They're from Cambridge, UK, but by way of Cambridge, MA - from the sounds of it - in that their sound reminds me of a lot of music from the US/Canadian border area. I put the EP in the realm of: PJ Harvey's Uh Huh Her, Broken Social Scene's You Forgot It in People and, an electrified, Feist's Let It Die."
~ Ian AR (see last FM)
If art is really a combination of physical bodies of colour, objects, sound, does it's description really matter? If i were to tell you that the painting is in the style of Turner, you'd think at most "its good but its not a Turner". So why should i say a single word about it? Your desciption is the most accurate desciption to yourself. So why not keep it that way?
The Sleep Wells are a 4-piece band from Cambridge, UK, who found their full shape in November 2005. Since a first gig at The Portland Arms in September 2006, we've played a bunch of shows including headlines at the Portland, The Loft (now the barfly) and a few others dotted around the country.
Our first self-titled EP (the one Chris and Grace left copies of around the world) was recorded back in February 2006 on a four track in six hours; consisting of "Dress Me Up"/"Lighten Up"/"Silent Riots", it had the major flaw of sounding like it was recorded on tape from the 40s.
Our second self-titled EP (the one with a panda on the cover) was recorded in March 2007, with four days, three microphones, a computer and a living room. You can hear it on this very page, or if you want a real, CD copy, send us a message.
We are on and off between months, as our lives have progressed and we are often scattered across the country - Cambridge to Glasgow, London and Southampton. We get together and try to make the most of it.
