ONCE UPON A TIME…
DJ Maus started DJ'ing around 1996 on students parties. In 1998 he found a steady place to perform in 'De Uitstad', where people loved their acid jazz and breakbeats, even some drum 'n bass, too. He played there once or twice a week for six years. Making a slight shift towards deep and progressive house around 2000 he was offered residencies in two clubs in Eindhoven called De Stunt and 5611. Around 2001 he was approached by Andy, who had become a regular visitor of "De Uitstad" to play and create music together. The Sleepyheadz were born.
Over the years The Sleepyheadz played at several local festivals like CitySounds, Virus, and did incidental gigs at places like Cul de Sac, Vasquesz, Effenaar.
“LOGICAL THINKING”
2007 saw the release of “Logical Thinking”, a varied compilation of tunes and remixes Andy & Maus created between 2004 and 2007. It was self-released and caught the attention of Bjoern Hofmans, who used several tracks for commercials he designed.
The Sleepyheadz have been defunct for about two years. While Andy started producing more music and soundscapes for commercials, Maus dedicated himself to fatherhood, to studying Dutch Literature, and of course maintaining his huge ever growing record collection.
However, blood is thicker than water, so in the Summer of '09 the two got back together to breed on some new choons, the results of which are slowly finding their way to this site... so keep coming back!
