The Slight Eccentric began with the vision of close friends Nick Maitland, Jay Minger and Jack Elsey. The sound began to thicken in the summer of 2001 as they discovered the talent of Ryan Conley. From their first rehearsal on, songs began to explode on the writing table and The Slight Eccentric was set in motion. After recording their first demo in Nashville, TN on legendary Music Row, The Slight Eccentric began to hit the Detroit bar scene in the summer of 2002. As they received appreciation and encouragement from their growing number of listeners, they put their heads together to figure out how to fill out their live sound. Answering their call, Jason Cooper, a drummer/percussionist they had been admiring for years, joined the band as a percussionist. A perfect compliment to the backbone rhythm section, Cooper's energy was undeniable as he took TSE's live show to the next level. With the line-up complete, TSE has taken Detroit and the rest of the Midwest by storm ever since. They recorded their first full-length studio effort, Night Changes Everything, with local legend Chris MacIntosh in the summer of 2003. Supporting their album, TSE has performed at hot venues throughout Detroit, Chicago and New York, even opening for The Roots at Miami University in Oxford, OH. As they continue to write new songs and polish their show, The Slight Eccentric gathers more and more momentum, creating an energy that is felt as soon as you enter the venue.
