The Slow Learners don’t always win them over or blow them away or any of that stuff that bands love to do in their bios. Funny and self-aware....band bios are so this and that these days. Boo to your pretentious noise...opps couldn’t help but join in a little. The internet is one big contradiction anyway, embrace damn it! We do what we do and want you to do the same for yourself. The Slow Learners are playing select live shows. Making a point to develop their sound, or to at least ponder the past, put it towards the future and maybe smoke some cigarettes while they’re at it. Always trying to do their own thing, wishing the same to you and yours. If you read this far, your attention span is equal to or greater then all the band members put together. Playing original roots-rock with a hard blues edge, The Slow Learners really are a throwback to the glory days of soul and groove. Our influences range from The Band and Bob Dylan through Steve Cropper and Basehead, then on to Moby Grape and Joe Strummer -- with a touch of Lenny Bruce and John Belushi thrown in for flavor. The Slow Learners Have framed their career with diverse, musical backgrounds that stem from studio engineer production, to the collective mastery of various instrumentation. With the help of the talented Kraig B Greff on organ, keys, and accordian (not to mention his amazing sense of humor which we will not try to translate into text), things really started taking shape. Influenced by such industry legends who include Bob Dylan, The Who & Tom Petty, The Slow Learners are creating records that are filled with humorous undertones; juxtaposed with simple, raw and direct lyrics. With two, studio LPs recorded and currently in distribution, The Slow Learners have already begun to receive industry recognition by having some of their stand out singles aired via internet radio, as well as amongst an array of FM and Indie radio stations. In 2006, the band released their self-titled, debut compilation. The album was written and produced by lead vocalist, Ed Jentsch at various studios in and around Maryland. The band's follow up project, “Incomplete”, was never officially mixed, and was distributed in a raw format. Combined, both compilations spawned the success of stand-out songs that include, Jesus Saves and Party. The critical and commercial success of both projects led The Slow Learners into touring opportunities that further promoted their music to the masses. During the past eight years, they have taken center stage at many of the increasing popular venues across Baltimore, DC, Philly and New York City. Having performed at every club in the greater Baltimore Metropolitan area, the band has been able to solidify their name amongst a cross culture of fans and fellow listeners. They've played various music festivals and conferences, playing as the opening act for Nationally acclaimed bands.Chances are probably pretty good you may have never heard such a diversified group as The Slow Learners. They also might not be everyone's cup of tea, but they are a band that needs to be experience to be believed. Their sound ranges from indie rock to jazz and dance grooves and pretty much makes stops just about everywhere in between. If you are in the mood for something different that kicks ass, be sure to look these dudes up". Ultimately of course, The Slow Learners want to have their music showcased in global, television and cinematic projects.
