   About The Smiling Strangers
The Smiling Strangers were formed in 2004 by songwriter Jeff Reynolds. Jeff had played in bands and appeared at both the Edinburgh Fringe and the Greenbelt Arts Festival but had a break from music before writing a batch of new songs that were meant to be a solo project but which quickly developed into The Smiling Strangers. The band features Jeff on bass and guitars, Rue Randall on guitars and vocals, Lucy Winkett on guitar and vocals, Peter Moreton on piano and vocals and Pete Powers on drums. The band primarily write and perform ..catchy and hook filled.. three minute pop songs but also include many different styles and types of music in their eclectic live set. They also appear as 2, 3, 4 piece doing gigs acoustically and in a stripped down version of their line up and songs. They are very flexible in their approach to live performance and have appeared in diverse places such as HMP Stafford and St. Paul..s Cathedral. THEIR THIRD CD, "ALL THE WAY" HAS JUST BEEN RELEASED. The Kittiwakes - CD Launch - Clerkenwell 22nd June

Leigh-on-Sea 3-piece,
The Kittiwakes, celebrate the release of their Midwich Records debut, ‘Lofoten Calling’, a collection of original folk songs written about the people, landscape, folklore and history of the Lofoten Islands above the Arctic Circle and influenced by the traditional music of Norway and the British Isles.

'The Kittiwakes craft timeless and magical acoustically dappled folk treats - gentle and alluring ostensibly Gaelic in sound texture and gorgeously flighty braided as they are by corteges of mandolins, accordions and violins.' [LOSING TODAY]

'The Kittiwakes (rissa tridactyla): delicious, intriguing and evocative music, beautifully played and sung by this talented trio. Recommended to twitchers and lovers of folk music alike' [LEIGH FOLK FESTIVAL]

Alien Left Hand -- What the critics say:

"At last a follow up to Janette Mason's sparkling debut as leader. Alien Left Hand ....was well worth the wait…” Production **** Performance**** -- BBC Music Magazine

“…an album fizzing with fresh ideas and delights, an exhilarating musical journey .. with brilliantly original writing and inspired playing…” -- Helen Mayhew

"Every track from the rhythmic ‘NY Cab Ride’ and restless ‘4 Wheel Drive’ to the brooding ‘Mae’s Song’ has a terrific hook but it’s the way Mason switches tempo and moods that makes ALH great fun.

Hi there Mostly Toasties!!

Just a quick update for you on the goings on of the Mostly Toast world..

The studio in The Northern Quarter is now fully up and running. We are going to open the studio up to singer songwriters every Saturday for what we are calling our "fastrack" service. It's like a drop in centre for musicians to get a song recorded, all for just £20!! Check the blog for more details....

The Mostly Acoustic gigs down at Nexus and the monthly Mostly Toast nights at The Green Windmill are going really well. We've had some amazing musicians playing some great music.

Box Kid (http://www. myspace. com/boxkidband) are still in the studio but the recordings are sounding great and we're really looking forward to getting them mixed, mastered and released!!

To Sophia ( http://www. myspace. com/tosophia ) have already finished their recordings and have an album launch night sometime soon!! They will also be launching a new website in the very near future too!!

We have also embarked on a new project called The Mostly Toast Musicians Co-Operative. Members will receive a range of benefits including 10% discount on all studio bookings, help finding gigs and monthly workshops on a variety of different topics from guest speakers. For more info go to: http://www. myspace. com/mtmusicianscooperative .

phew...

That's all for now folks..

Love

The Mostly Toast Team
