Band MembersDickon is the creator of the diddly dub sound and can do many melodious and dancing things with his diatonic melodeon and feet. Rasta Ropert is a drumming teacher, and brings the true dub style to our sound. Ade is our root percussionist. Mike hits the violin. Dave gives us the strongest, solidest, bass foundation. So its official, Cheesy Gareth is no longer in the Smirkins band.
However I have been asked by Mike and Dickon to play at the fantastic Wheaton Aston festival next week, and Im very likely to be seen of stages as and when possible with Dickon and Dave around the Glastonbury Festival, Wishing the band the very best of success and hope they manage to find musicians of the right characture to fit in the band I helped create, and fought hard to get gigs on respectful stages for many years. I hope you allow this comment.

A RURAL CELEBRATION OF MUSIC,
SONG AND DANCE

FESTIVAL DATES:- MAY 16-17-18TH '08

Updated 28th January '08.

Hello and welcome to Wheaton Aston Festival! Our Festival is in the heart of rural Staffordshire, in the village of Wheaton Aston which is on the Shropshire Union Canal (Bridge 19). As those who've been here will tell you, the Festival is small, warm and friendly, with GREAT music - an eclectic mix of music, song & dance, some familiar, some less so, but all of the very best. Simply, it's about whatever fits, whatever's outstanding - a musical pot-pourri that's interesting and fun.

The Festival occurs within the village and as well as concerts, there'll be workshops, sessions, street theatre and dance, children's activities, a craft fair, an art trail, good food available and a campsite near the village centre.

If you're on broadband and want to see a flavour of the Festival click HERE for video, and for other background info, HERE!.

This year's guests include: Maire Ni Chathasaigh & Chris Newman, Tom Doughty, 3 Daft Monkeys , Quick Silver , Hoover The Dog , Rachel Hair, Ling Peng & Xiao Ying, Epic45, Tracey Curtis, Triban, East Handed, Landermason, The Smirkins, Tony Stringfellow, Shellback Chorus, Bob Lines, Foxs Morris... and lots more to be posted up! We'll update further details regularly. As ever, the music and atmosphere will be every bit of what you'd expect from this Festival - something very special!

Book early and save yourself £6
