The Sofa Kings were formed in July 2007 when former band-mates Robert Sheehan and Dave Gladish ("The Scott Wilson Band") threw together a group for a private party in Imperial Beach. Rolling Stone wrote "They played with the fire and urgency of a band 20 years on the road". They wrote that about another band but they wrote it the day after we played. Who knows maybe Jan Wenner was in I.B. that night thinking he was watching Deep Purple.
Most of 2008 was spent gigging all over southern California. Islands, RT Longboards, Winston's, 710 Club, 2nd Wind, Tiki Bar, Mission Viejo Rodeo, Molly Malones, Skybox, The Kraken, Bar Leucadian, Cheers, and of course Mickeys! Thanks to everybody who helped us along the way!
So what do we sound like? The Real Deal. Vintage Dudes, Vintage Gear, Vintage Tunes. We like whiskey, we like toe-tappers and we can go till you can't. Sofa King what? Dont mean nothin till you come out and see us...Burn your iPod and go see Live Music!
