Officially formed in 2007, Some of All Parts group members met in High School. After graduating, they went their separate ways and honed their crafts. Joe Truss organized within UC Berkeley's Black community and performed spoken word poetry, under the name TrustinTruss. Now known as 5 Fifths, he is one of the lyricists of SoAP. Carlos Bryant, a self taught pianist, who performed at SJSU, composes all original music and also raps. The brains behind the production and mixing is Danny Velarde, a graduate of Sound Engineering at SFSU. The underground Bay Area hip hop group creates entertaining but socially conscious hip hop music. Musical influences include Zion-I, Cold Play, the Roots, Nina Simone, and Talib Kweli.
